Max armor krytan/collector armor
holytiamat777
Just picked up this game again after a 2 year hiatus, so I guess I'm a bit of a noob.
Is there a reason why insignias cannot be placed on these? Is it a big deal? I'm a bit peeved about this one less lack of option in customizing this great looking set of armor.

Big deal thats up to you to decide. But if worse comes to worse just carry a set of "combat" armor and change into that when ur going into combat, and just wear the collector armor in towns.
Killamus
Better idea: Either get the highest armor set that isn't max, or go to Cantha and buy max krytan armor in Budakpek Byway that can have an insignia.

It *is* rather annoying that the max collector armor in Prophecies can't have insignia attached - especially since it's generally harder to get all 25 trophies needed than it is to get 5p plus, mostly, common materials for the crafters (especially for non-farmers).

If I get the non-max collector armor (the maguuma stuff), the total will come out to 244 whereas the max comes out to 280. Isn't that a pretty big difference in lack of armor?
I'm really curious as to why the designers did this.

Collector armor are just designed to be worse and you should just craft a real set. There's absolutely NO reason to use the collector armors except as a temporary set /a few pieces for a new character on a new account.
Also note that armor doesn't simply add up for armor pieces, they're treated individually, when you get hit the game determines which bodypart was hit (random chance: Head 12.5%, Chest 37.5%, Hands 12.5%, Legs 25%, Feet 12.5% probability) for every hit and only that armor piece +bonus from insignia on it count for that hit.

max armor is not in the jungle--its in both the desert and the southern shiverpeaks.

So if you wear a festival hat with zero armor, you receive no protection (with few exceptions) from the rest of your armor if you take a blow to the head.

yes I get it...but the jump is not that big when you go with each piece....71 jungle then 80 max (per piece)...I was pointing out the max is not that far away in the desert. Its only 9 per piece (same for casters 51 jungle, 60 max)

With 60AL taking 100dmg, the 51AL will take about 116dmg.
OP. Go get them in Cantha =)

So I guess I have to buy Factions then? Well, I hear it's pretty good, so maybe that's not a bad thing.
I -do- have EotN. I've been hearing that EotN common armor allows for insignias. The thing is, what does that stuff look like?

EotN common armor is just headpieces, masks, glasses, etc.

In the early days of GW, there were no Insignias on any armor (just Runes). You bought armor sets both for their looks and for their stats. When they started the insignia system, they retrofitted the older armor sets so that their inherent mods became insignias and could be changed. I guess they just overlooked those collector sets during the retrofit, or there were technical reasons why they couldn't/didn't.
Darcy
Before insignia, collector armor had no special stats. They still don't. Have always been just a basic armor set.

lol..keep in mind though this was when I was new like 4 years ago... I didn't even know about the crystal desert yet.
