Hi all.
So I'm fairly new to GW, and quite new to GWG, and after having annoyed the folks in Ventari's with my incessant--and inevitably worthless--PC's ("lawlz is this q20 blue fire wand any good?", and that calibre of crapola), I've decided that it might be intelligent for me to actually learn a few things about the item economy. Problem: It's awfully hard in Spamadan to get any sense of normal item value amidst the flood of "WTS q9 Prot BDS your immortal soul + 600e".
I'll say it up front: I'm a mediocre player, and a very mediocre farmer. I've only unlocked HM in Factions, and all those farming builds that are supposed to be able to solo X-Y-Z locations with ease just don't seem to work so well in my hands. My main toon is an A/D Mystic Regen Moebius Blossomer, and he does decently, but there's a very finite list of areas I can farm in (Stone Scales in Pongmei Valley HM, Mantids in Kinya Province HM, and Star Tengu in Nahpui, NM + HM...that's about it).
So I guess my questions are...
1. Where are some of the better (RELATIVELY easy...I'm not one of those folks who can afford to drop 150k for the latest UW solo build) farming locations for decent item drops?
2. Where in high holy hell do people get these q8 golds and q7 blues which go for 100k+ in a single blow? Are they, too, only from those high-end areas which I don't stand a chance in, or are there any "normal" areas which can drop same?
I apologize if these questions seem naive or foolish...but that might be something of a reflection on the author, since I'm both. Any help, even if it's of the "we don't have the answers" variety, will be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Lt. Banana
A quite possibly annoying but still pertinent farming question.

1. for actual rare skins they don't just drop anywhere they drop from end chests in eotn dungeons or the fow/uw. and people don't actually "farm" them, they speed clear the dungeon and get the drops from the chest.
2. these can drop anywhere. the chance of one dropping is quite low though.

I wouldn't bother farming with weapons in mind. Keep your eyes on your loot in case you get supremely lucky with a q7/q8 drop, of course. But you will rarely get a weapon otherwise that's worth more than, say, 5k. Not worth the time to try to sell to another player, IMHO, so I just merch everything. (After salvaging any useful mods, of course.)
Your best bet for decent profit of the less-than-immortal-soul type is to go for materials. Especially feathers, which sell for 10k per stack and sell VERY quickly. About 30 seconds after you offer feathers in Kama, they're gone. If you can farm Nahpui or Jaya Bluffs, even in NM, then you're in great shape for doing that. The Tengu in Jaya Bluffs also drop a great deal of armor with runes, and some of those can be pretty profitable even sold to the rune trader. Granite from the kirins in Pongmei is also profitable, though there is a better granite farm in Prophecies if you unlock HM there.
If you're not working on the Wisdom title and have some storage free, you can save up all the junk golds you get without IDing them, then sell them 7 unid for 5k.

Thanks for the assistance, both of you. BrettM, I already do a bit of material farming, notably feathers. And no, I'm really not worried about the "immortal soul" drops...but just lately, I've been seized with the inexplicable desire to get *one* really quality drop, just to set myself back on a more solid financial footing (just bought elite Kurz armor for my sin, took two weeks to gather the requisite cash and wiped me clean). But hey, I suppose that's everyone's grand ambition. Also, what's this superior granite farm in Prophecies all about?
Turbo, the problem with speed-clearing is that I can't. Plain and simple, I lack the funds and skill to set up and run an effective speed-clear build. I'd love to be able to run Bogroot until that lovely q9 Froggy drops for me, but if I'm being reasonable with myself, I know that's never going to happen...hence my inquiry about relatively low-end farming hotspots.
Keep 'em coming, folks...and thanks in advance.
