God bosses
awry
I think it would be interesting if it was possible go into the realm of the gods and fight them. Here are my ideas of what these bosses' builds should be, all of them have 20 attributes in every attribute:
Edit: In light of the bosses being too easy and or farmable...
Dwayna
[pre][Invoke Lightning] [Unyielding Aura][Word of Healing][Glimmer of Light][Aura of Faith][Peace and Harmony][Spell Breaker][Glimmering Mark][/build][/pre]
The near immortal, thunderbolt shooting god, dwayna. I took out smiting because I realized that smiting monks followed balthazar. Behold dwayna and its 800+ spike heal with aura of faith+unyielding aura and word of healing. Unyielding aura makes it so that if this boss doesn't die first, nothing dies.
Balthazar
[pre][Star Burst][Warrior's endurance][Focused Anger][Earth Shaker][Backbreaker][Enraged Smash][Shield of Judgment][Magehunter's Smash][/build][/pre]
Fire and rage. Say hello to kd hell. This is what pve monsters feel like when you use great dwarf weapon.
Melandru
[pre][Melandru's Arrows][Incendiary arrows][Shockwave][Melandru's resilience][Crippling Shot][Punishing Shot][Quicksand][Famine][/build][/pre]
Farm this guy. I dare you.
Grenth
[pre][Aura of the Lich][Shatterstone][Soul Leech][Animate Flesh Golem][Jagged Bones][Corrupt Enchantment][Lingering Curse] [Destructive was Glaive][/build][/pre]
Where is this guy going to get his corpses? Do you need to ask? Get to close to him and you'll see why is he the god of death.
Lyssa
[pre][Simple Thievery][Symbols of Inspiration][Visions of Regret][Tease][Illusionary Weapon][Energy Surge][Locust's fury] [Hex Eater Vortex][/build][/pre]
Yes lyssa has daggers. Yes locust's fury and illusionary weapon will work together, yes she will have 33% ias. And yes, there will be blood.
Are the gods wimpy now?

that would be fun actually, all 5 at one time would be a challenge....ban all pve only skills ..and maybe cons...now thats a challenge, also have 5 minions each with them and also an insane amount of health
unfortunately they arent gonna put anything cool like this in guild wars :/
should include abaddon in a humanoid form
^that was not sarcasm
give em better elites tho

i like the idea of real bosses. not just glowy dudes that are a little better than regular monsters, i mean like kaanaxai, abaddon, etc.
but i imagine it wouldn't fit into the storyline as well (i don't pay attention to it just assuming) and if they ever do decide to add elite areas for all the other gods, it'd probably follow the same 10-quest format as uw and fow. i hope there's a lot of tough final bosses in gw2.

/Rend on Dwayna
/VoR everything else.
And we can already fight Gods, i got served by abaddon.
If you want a hard enemy look up Mallyx, or Skitt Skizzle.
And the builds have no synergy whatsoever, even if they were all together, have 8 Monster-Only skills with the 5 gods together that could only be beat by flare, and we'll talk.

Hehe sweet idea but Perma and 600smites will find a way to make it pointless hehe!

Also Dwayna needs Dwayna's Kiss, Melandru needs Melandru's Shot etc.

GW bosses suck in general. It's always been more about getting to him than the extaul boss.
What to bosses have that normal enemies don't? Faster casting, faster recharge, extra pips of energy, lower hex duration, and more hitpoints.
Concidentally, all these things are what horribly GOREDEGINEs up mesmers in PvE. What's the point of shutdowns/e-denial when you can't shut down boss PvE skills, and the ones you can just recharge at increased speeds?
Thanks for that ANet.
Now, back to my Crybot.

I like your idea, however, they will not make it. Two reasons:
-Anet has better things to do. Fixing bugs in Aion, making GW2, etc... Even a lil' Design-A-Weapon-Contest would be a big thing.
-Nowdays with all these PvE skills, nothing is hard. Even if these Gods had like one million HP, it would be still easy to kill them. Spiteful Spirit + Spoil Victor + Emphaty + Backfire + Pain Inverter + Visions of Regret... boom. And i think it would be possible to farm them with permasins

lol that war build has some awful synergies.
shove drains all adrenaline, while battle rage ends if you don't use an adrenaline skill.
warrior's endurance charges up energy, with you wanting to use energy skills then battle rage would end.
also if this is a so called "god" build give him some deep wound
and i think they should be immune to dazed so you couldn't just fire a BHA and kill him the casters off in 4 seconds.
but i find it necessary to say this will never happen in gw and is better of going on gw2guru

definitely would be cool to have a new elite area in which u can fight the gods or even just one god u can only enter if u have god walking amongst mere mortals lol, maybe not ;-)

A-net have a live team dedicated to GW1, there are people to make this kind of thing. It's just there are far moe important things that need fixed/added atm.
Good luck farming them with a permasin, especially with that superhealing monk and the Illusionary Weaponary on the mesmer.
Added: Using 8 elite skills isn't the best idea, there are bosses in the game I fear more that only have a single elite skill.
Also remember the bosses would really be more than one profession.
E.g Grenth is Water Magic, Necromancer, Wind Prayers Dervishes and possibly even Rits IIRC
Reformed
This.
If you just want something obnoxiously hard then start with Mallyx's standard monster skills. Give him something to strip weapon spells, stop shouts/chants/echoes and a mass Gaze of Fury type skill. Oh...and change Banish Enchantment to type "skill". That should round out his curious inability to deal with expansion professions.
Point being unless they start where Mallyx left off or use some exotic environmental effects it will be a pushover of a fight. About the OPs bars...no one has thought of Signet of Humility yet? Way too easy to shut down an all elite bar.

Add Grenth to UW and Balta to FoW after completing all the quests, so u have to beat them to get the chest.
Rest can't be put anywhere.

I dislike the idea of fighting the gods it wouldn't anywhere in the game-lore, and if you want challenges try fow, uw, Mallyx, or any other bosses with no conventional builds.
EDIT: Forgot to mention the Cthulhu like foe Rotscale on Majestry's Rest.

Yeah Balthazar's bar is pretty bad but that's because I couldn't decide what weapon to give him and so I didn't use any of those better weapon elites. If you guys have some suggestions for builds for the gods, post them. I also like the idea about grenth having water magic, and assassin skills, i forgot about them :P It shouldn't be that hard for anet to implement imo. IN any case if they wanted they could just use the avatars as models for the bosses, just supersize them and then make them a quest using a pre-exisiting location.

Arnt gods meant to be omnipotent? meaning that normal players shouldnt really stand any chance in a fight with them anyway?
Giga_Gaia
Since when are GODS bound by the rules of mere mortals? In that regard, what's stopping any of these gods from limiting themselves to only 8 skills? Imagine if they could dynamically change their skills/behavior, etc; since they are gods of multiple professions/skills/attributes. Now that would be cool... but, yeah wishful thinking, I know.

[pre][Invoke Lightning] [Unyielding Aura][Word of Healing][Glimmer of Light][Aura of Faith][Peace and Harmony][Spell Breaker][Glimmering Mark][/build][/pre] Provided Infinite energy i suppose this is okay. Balthazar [pre][Star Burst][Warrior's endurance][Focused Anger][Earth Shaker][Backbreaker][Enraged Smash][Shield of Judgment][Magehunter's Smash][/build][/pre] Fire and rage. Say hello to kd hell. This is what pve monsters feel like when you use great dwarf weapon. Earthquake is more KD hell than an AI earthshaker tbh. Melandru [pre][Melandru's Arrows][Incendiary arrows][Shockwave][Melandru's resilience][Crippling Shot][Punishing Shot][Quicksand][Famine][/build][/pre] Melandru's over glass? Decent I guess other than that...nothing in any of the builds besides energy surge to exploit famine, more of a free level 20 famine for 600 farmers. Grenth [pre][Aura of the Lich][Shatterstone][Soul Leech][Animate Flesh Golem][Jagged Bones][Corrupt Enchantment][Lingering Curse] [Destructive was Glaive][/build][/pre] Glaive will make him frontline, and no rit skills to exploit it. Soul leech generally sucks. Death nova would be more annoying than corrupt/flesh golem. Lyssa [pre][Simple Thievery][Symbols of Inspiration][Visions of Regret][Tease][Illusionary Weapon][Energy Surge][Locust's fury] [Hex Eater Vortex][/build][/pre] I hope you give them 20 in every attribute or first skill is wasted. IW generally sucks except Permas, high hits would be better since IW at 20 is low for HM. Are the gods wimpy now? |
Slavers summits in Hm would piss me off more than this.
Drithlan
I had an idea similar to this about a year ago. Have 5 separate Solo missions you can get from the statues and at the end you fight the god.
Hyperventilate
This is actually pretty interesting. Maybe for GW2. Make it a sort of team-ascension PvP of some sort. The God's need to test you personally. See if you're ready to do X part of the game.
This intrigues me. Really. I'd like to see it happen.

How in Tyria would players be able to fight the Gods and win?
I think you're forgetting how powerful the Gods are. The only reason you could even hurt Abaddon was because of the chains of Balthazar. Without them, he's completely invulnerable. In other words, unless you had some kind of advantage like that with the other gods, there would be no way for players to be able to fight them and have a hope of victory. Even a permaSF sin would be helpless against them, for the same reason that permaSF is god mode in most of the game: you can't kill what you can't hurt. Eventually, even a permaSF sin would mess up in maintaining SF and the god would kill them.
So, unless you give the gods some artificial handicap of some sort or decide to completely throw out all the lore about them, it would be an unwinnable battle. And really, why would the gods want to fight a player in the first place?
Now, if you wanted to have the players fight the avatars of the gods, then that would be more feasible. However, you still run into the question of "why?" (well, except Balth; I think he'd want to do it for the fun of it) and the fact that Anet already has enough on their plate as it is (some would even say they've taken on too much).
