I'm thinking about Powertrading. I'm thinking about trying Voltaic Spears - high reqs - is that a good idea ? I also only have 130k (I know I need to get a bit more cash for a VS), how much would be good to start with?
Also, is guru a good place to check current prices? I'm not the best with prices, and most guides seem a bit out of date.
Sorry if this is pretty vague.

You could also try some of the minipets. Go check out the minipet thread in price check forum and see what ppl buy and sell them for. The prices there are not too badly outdated. There are pets in all price ranges from a few k to many millions to work on. But it will take much patience and some luck to get anywhere and earn money on it.

think of it this way. the more you have to trade with, the more profit you'll be making. the less things cost, the less the prices differentiate, meaning the less you'll be able to make. and 130k is nothing.
also the price check thread here on guru is ridiculously out of date and just plain wrong, you can use it as a guideline if you have no idea what in the world something's worth just to get a vague ballpark estimate, but it is by no means accurate.
voltaic spears are bad to be power trading anyway. common and popular items like that usually have a set price on the market and the most you'll be able to pull in profit off of one is 5 ectos if you're lucky. go for rare things that you don't see being traded often, that's where the money is.

anyways, if you want to power trade, you got to know the prices of stuff.
you can use the search function and look for Voltaic spears on the forum.
and buy them a bit cheaper that that and sell them for 4 or 5 ecto more.
its true the profit is not so much, a couple of ecto for 15 or 20 minutes work, but the risk is not extreme and its a good way to start
and VS's is a good way to start.
i went from 120K to 400 in 2 days, spamming 2 hours a day
but i spended it all on sweet tooth points and stuff, already have nice weapons and armor

Here's some empirical advice:
I recently spent all of my ecto on my Ztitle. I had 200k left and I managed to get back up to 1.5 million in just under a week.
I bought tomes low and sold high (examples: rit tomes 600g, sold 1k; elite ele tomes 6k, sold 7k, etc...), bought stacks of consumables for standard prices and sold as bulk hits (1000pts plus) for extra gold, I bought mid-range minipets low and sold high.
Turn over of around 50k an hour at peak periods. I've found watching the WTBs and WTSs and exploiting the middle market to be much more profitable than going for high end trades.
Everyone always needs consumables for titles, tomes for skills, and mid range pets are easy to shift as their vales reflect the wealth of the average GWs player.
Once you've hit the mill target, then you can start buying the higher-end items and slowly increase you profit ratios.

I've experimented with dungeons, but I'm a horrible 600, and I don't care to learn how to 600. Powertrading is also pretty simple, and I can do other things while doing it (MSN, Facebook, ect).
