Ok, so I've looked at the loot scaling page on wiki several times now, and I'm sort of confused. Does this mean that the same amount of common items such as common materials and collectibles will drop for some1 farming solo and someone in a full group? Or am I totally wrong? If some1 could just explain loot scaling, that would be great.

Every item other than the ones listed on the exceptions will scale acoordingly to the party size, ie, you'll get the same amount of that drop as solo or in an 8 man party.

Everything else will have a higher chance of dropping as it's exempt from loot scalling.

The reason why they created the loot scaling was to deter the 55monk bergen hot springs bot farmers and troll farmers outside of droks. The wrong people were sending hundreds of accounts out to farm whites and gold and accumulating so much, then selling it thru ebay or other sites. The reason it was only the white items and gold is because if a bot farmer got a black dye, it will sell it to the merchant at 1g, therefore not getting the full value if they were to sell it to a dye trader, and the same for the others - tomes cant be sold at merchant, etc, etc. Back in the day (before scaling) to farm, merely meant to go outside and kill a handful of enemies and make a few thousand gold. Most of the farms now - are aimed at either gold unid items, tomes, or festival items. But to answer your question, a green item has the same chance of dropping for 1 person as it does for 8 people, as well as elite tomes, gold uniques, and festival items. As for actual gold and white items, thats all dependent on your party size. A team of 8 will see more gold and more whites fall then a team of 4, or a solo person.

So what your saying is that the same amount of tomes would drop, but in a full party, each person will get less than solo because the drops are divided. I'm guessing common materials are effected by loot scaling? Like if i brought 7 h/h to feather farm, i would get the same amount of feathers as solo?

in a team I got like...1-2 golden drops.

1 lvl Soo 600rit/ele GWx run for dust and bones...its good.

The increase is not linear, that means a single person will get a little more feathers than a person in a full team. However, a full team can kill the enemys quicker, resulting in an equal or even better amount per time.
