K, well there's been a new expansion, Eye of the North which is for lvl 20s (but a lvl 10 can be buffed up to lvl 20) and this has 10 new heroes and a decent bit of content, new skills etc.
There's been a few new things added to help with the grind and a couple of freebies to make things easier for people.
There's been a load of skill changes and there's alot of things going on in pvp. If you liked Hero Battles, well there's probably not much time left in that because it's going in the bin with team arena and being replaced with a sealed deck.
Everyone's rich.
Pugs are few and far between so get used to playing with heroes and henchmen unless you find a guild you like being in.
Jump in and have fun.

Might I suggest you play as if it was a new game. There have been so many additions and skill changes over the last two years that it would be impossible to list them all.
Create a new character and start fresh. Keep your old one for the birthday gifts (you should have several in your inventory), but let him rest until you get a grasp on the game.
As far as what things are worth, usually less than two years ago - even ectos are down to under 5k.

Minipets are useless. If you double-click on them (in your inventory) they appear as little versions of monsters/NPCs and follow you around. They don't fight, pick stuff up for you, or anything like that. Just follow you around. You can either keep them or sell them to other people (most of them are only a few k now). You can also dedicate them in your Hall of Monuments (it's an EotN thing). Keep in mind that dedicating them removes basically all value from all non-uber rare minis, so if you plan to sell them don't dedicate.

NF came out 10/27/2006, you got mucho catching up to do.
large-ish "updates" that i can think of off the top of my head that you missed....
*Hard Mode - makes all areas hard, including low level areas, basically a bigger challenge and titles come along with that for vanquishing, you could do a game over again in hardmode basically
*EoTN Expansion - exactly what it says, big expansion for gw not a stand alone game
*BMP "expansion" - this one was just a chunk of content like sorrow's furnace, but i still call it an expansion because you need gw
*Zaishen Quests - fun things that brought life back into old less explored content
*Nicholas - in presearing and in post searing areas of all gw games, gives good things in exchange for some monster drops

Trilogy retails for $50 but can be had for $33 plus shipping at gogamer.com, $37 shipped at Newegg when its in stock. Trilogy DOES NOT include Eye of the North. Newegg sells the Eye of the North Platinum which includes Prophecies for $10 shipped.
Note that if you add the Eye of the North platinum version to the trilogy you will lose the additional Prophecies account. It's still cheaper to get it this way however, as the standalone Eye of the North costs more.
Gogamer also has the Factions and Nightfall Collector's editions right now for $10.49 each plus shipping. Lots of extra GW merchandise plus in game mini pets and emotes. I think Nightfall Collector's also has bonus in game music.

As it turns out all the prices I listed are legit except possibly the 10.49 CE's. Looks like that might have been a price mistake on the website. They've gone on back order and raised that price but I got an order in so we shall see..
The 9.99 EotN/Prophecies at Newegg is definitely legit as I ordered it and received it, as is the $33 trilogy from gogamer, which I also purchased and received.

Well, keep in mind that Eye of the North is an expansion. So you can only use your existing characters, not make new ones there. So make sure you remember your old game's account if you get Eye of the North.
I'd say EoTN has more high-end play and is where a lot of activity is currently going on. But Nightfall is probably better for somebody who has been gone from the game for a while, and has much more content.

From what you guys say it will get rid of my prophesies acc. Is there a way to save my lv 20 warrior that was made on prophesies? He can get on the factions side of GW. Oh yea i remember what armor he had. It was Knight Templar. Will i miss anything if i dont get nightfall? besides 2 jobs.
