This is what happens occasionally whiling playing.
Ive played Guild wars for 4 years, and my laptop can easily run it.
I normally when this happens, i minimize GW, however when i don't the screen goes black and it says something about the driver has stopped responding.
If you know why this is happening i would appreciate it if you could let me know why
Here are the Screenshots.
Thank you.

From Elder in response to another thread. If it really is your drivers this should work. Edited for universality.

go to www.3dguru.com and download their Driver Sweeper program (it's free) follow the directions on the site, including using it in Safe Mode. Then install the latest compatible Drivers from [fill in site for whoever makes your video card here] (which you have previously downloaded and saved on your computer). That should take care of it for you.

The time that this happened to me my video card was dying. It died completely within a week of this starting.

yup, looks like your video card is dying. my cs:s looked kinda like this before my card got fried.

Your video card may not be dying but it could be overheating.
If you hadn't mentioned it was a laptop I would have advised cleaning the processor fan and heat sink ditto the graphics card if it had one.
Do laptops get a terminal build up of dust just like normal pcs ?

Post your system specs:
Monitor your system temperatures (everest.com has a free version of their software which will do that for you)
Post the temps.
If temps are in order, download latest drivers (do not install yet) then use Driver Sweeper form www.3dguru.com to delete old drivers in Safe mode, then install new drivers in normal mode.
If you still have trouble it may be your gw.dat file is corrupted and needs to be replaced with the "-image" command.
