When logging on to Guild Wars I keep getting the message that it doesn't recognize my acct name or that it is unable to connect.
Anyone else getting this?

Perfect, just what I need. I never even received a notification that my account info was being changed, what a joke.

Cahnge password manually throught plaync, you will then get 045 error when logging in to gw and be told to Contact support. There is account breach epidemy, so you might wait a bit.
(My mule account got hijacked two weeks ago, got it back yesterday, FYI. None other account i accessed on same computer got stolen, so i would rule out keylogger, unless they stole a LOT of account and are going through them alphabetically.)
---
Do not worry about characters or majority of your stuff, people who hijacked theese accounts are there to get money, not to mess you up totally. Expect expensive stuff being gone (ever armor, ecto salvages, ftl), but any item under ~5k value does not seem to interest them.

Yes and my full hall of monuments to go to waste. Why even bother GW2 tis is just so stupid.
As I said, those thieves seem to leave characters alone (as in, will not delete em) and only go for tradeable valuables, so more than good chances are, you main and your HOM will be allright.
Look, they raided account full of gold item crap and did not bother taking it or merching it for few k. Gold farmers have better thing to do than to delete mains of rich people. I.E. selling their stuff back to them...
So, calm down, everything is going to be fine.

if you use passwords always substitute letters for numbers so Flowers becomes fl0w3rs as and example as the hackers only look for real words.
Also last week over 5 million e-mail accounts were hacked. So if you have confirmations from anet and others they can assume that you are using the same password for more than one thing.
If your email password is the same for other things, then 3 million people are getting hacked more than once.
What some people to as a thawart to this is to have all of the passwords saved in a file. Then copy and paste the passwords where needed so no key strokes are logged...

Try using one or more memorable phrases or lyrics, and take the first letter of each word to make your password. Then do some number substitutions, and add punctuation marks etc. If you must use words, try using two words that make no sense together, and don't form a new word.
