Hello all.

I somehow missed the memo that Signet of Spirits was changed back in June to be much more awesome, and more to my liking. Now that I have been educated, I have gone on to try and think of a build I'd like to play with using the skill. Here is what I have so far:

Channeling: 12+2+1
Restoration: 12+1

Signet of Spirits
Painful Bond
Spirit Rift
[???????]
[???????]
Rejuvenation
Mend Body and Soul
Flesh of my Flesh

As you can see, I am still undecided about the last two slots. I know the staples with a heavy channeling build are Ancestor's Rage and Splinter Weapon, and that is fine to fall back on in the end. From the hip I was thinking about using Spirit Boon Strike (hurting and then healing your spirits is nice) and Essence Strike (though I am not really sure if energy is really going to be an issue). I also thought about Agony (the synergy with Spirit Boon Strike and Rejuvenation, but the skill can be really hit or miss.

Any thoughts?

Rejuv is pretty bad, take Life instead.
Take splinter weapon, it is uber powerfull.
If you're willing to put some points into Spawning Power, Spirit To Flesh and/or Feast Of Souls are great party heals.

Summon Spirits is better for healing spirits and gives you added mobility, and also allows you to pull spirits out of AoE.

Vampirism/Bloodsong for more DPS if you want but optional.

Spirit Rift is pretty bad, Splinter Weapon is much better AoE. Ancestor's Rage is also pretty bad in HM.

Spirit Siphon is better e-management than Essence Strike, but the build doesn't look that energy intensive so e-strike will probably suffice.

I find running the Channeling Rit from Spiritway (it's on PvX) is fine. In easy areas/NM I drop the Resto bits for Vampirism, Pain, and either Anguish, Union, or Shelter depending on what I need. With 6 spirits, Painful Bond deals incredible amounts of damage.

Is Splinter Weapon still useful even when wanding... cause the heroes I normally run with are all casters as well (Artificer Mesmer, Earth or Fire Elementalist, Healing Necro). Also, Spirit Rift really hasn't been that disappointing... but I could just be lucky. I don't necessarily "need" AoE, it just feels like a good idea to take it.

I took Rejuvenation over Life because my Necro already uses it and mine unsummons their's. I also remember reading that it is a better HoT than Recuperation.

Did anyone have a strong feeling about Spirit Boon Strike?

I don't know how I feel about making a huge investment in Spawning, but I'll consider those options as well.

Thanks

I would drop spirit rift and rejuvenation for other offensive spirits (bloodsong and wampirism). Also, in my opinion it is not the best idea to use a spiritspamming hybrid build. Maybe you should decide what role you would like to play.

If you really want to use Signet of Spirits, drop resto a bit and put some attribution point to spamming power instead. If you are really worried about self healing, put in Spiritleech Aura soomewhere. Also, having summin spirits is a must in a spiritspammig build.

So, I would run something like this:

[build prof=Ritualist/ SpawningPower=9 RestorationMagic=9 ChannelingMagic=12][Signet of Spirits][Bloodsong][Vampirism][Painful Bond][No Skill][Spiritleech Aura][Summon Spirits (Kurzick)][Flesh of My Flesh][/build]

Or you may completaly drop resto, put the points on communing and put in pain and anguish. As Marty said, that provides an insane amount of damage.

With very few points in Spawning power you can save your entire party from a wipe. Did that in Tahnnakai Temple just today. Doesn't come in handy all that often but its fun to see massive blue writing all over the screen

Drop the Restoration stuff, spirit rift, and the res (unless in human party and they need it).

Add at least vampirism and bloodsong. Pain and anguish are also good additions.

Siphon spirit and summon spirits are all the e-management and spirit healing you will need.

Armor of unfeeling is useful in HM, especially if your team needs them to do some tanking. If you are using Pain and Anguish, you have to spec into Communing anyway.

Any free slots that aren't these skills you can put in pve-only skills (GDW+), feast of souls, or some weapon spells (splinter weapon).

If you are not running any physicals, don't bring splinter weapon, however GDW can still be useful since AI likes to wand things.

I have been running the following with channeling at 14 and restoration at 12
Signet of Spirits
Summon spirits
Bloodsong
Agony
Mend Body and Soul
3 optional ones

Optional ones that I change around a lot, depending on who I am fighting.
Essence strike
Pain inverter
Flesh of my flesh
Ebon vanguard sniper support
Painful bond
Light of Deldrimor
Arcane Echo
Splinter weapon
Life
Vampirism
Lightbringer's Gaze

It has been working pretty well.

This is what i use to do UW HM solo, it works just takes practice. i would suggest a heal or something when starting out. Remember a bow to pull terrorwebs, charged blackness, rider add spawns , etc. I pull aatxes with painful bond, you can pull smites with PB, but they will just smite hex it, so doesnt really matter.

it isnt energy intensive since Boon + SoS gives me back 15 energy, and by the time they are recharged I am usually full again. If Dissonance doesnt tickle your fancy though, swap it out for vampirism or agony, they both work also. SummonS might help, but they are usually dead/almost dead before I would move them anyways, so I just pull with a bow and hope for the best.

"Spirit Siphon would have been a better energy management since you dont have any other Spawning power skill in your bar besides Boon. As for hp, you can rely on your monk to take care of that. You might as well max channeling and have a lower SP."

I will give SS a try, I just got used to boon and usually i don't get much of a return on SS. The Dying nightmares strip my boon, but that's usually not a big deal.
Like I said, this isn't the easiest solo build nor is it the smartest ..lol. Just the build I got used to.
