Question about Hero levels
Field
Im used to playing prophecies and only using henchmen.
And picked up all the expansions only a few days ago so im kinda new to the hero system.
The hero system is really cool, but after a while in the Nightfall campaign i somehow entered the
Eye of the North quest line and got 2 lvl20 heroes.
That plus the lvl20 mox, i now have 3 lvl20s in my party at lvl10.
So the question is; are there any downsides to using heroes that are 10 levels above you?
like less xp for kills or something.

I don't think there's any downside. In Eye of the North you are treated as a level20 anyway. And by the way, you may also have access to the Fire Imp Summoning Stone - type /bonus and abuse that sucker as well (until you're level 20).
You can go back to Nightfall/Cantha/Prophecies with your heroes and Imp... and they will stomp everything while you do nothing. If there's a downside, that's it - they are too powerful, it removes the challenge/fun from low-level areas... and you don't learn much by simply leading the party to enemies and watching the slaughter.

Thanks for the reply. I guess i could use them on harder missions.
Sounds kinda boring to just slaughter your way through everything, unless you just want to rush through the game asap.

Keep several things in mind before you run off thinking you're going to slaughter everything without effort just because of the heroes:
1. Even the EotN heroes do not come with great gear, though they are level 20. They will need weapons, insignia, and runes to really perform well, just like the NF heroes.
2. Heroes, whether from NF or EotN, do not come with a huge selection of skills, nor do they come with any elite skills. Unless you've unlocked a bunch of skills with Balthazar faction or have purchased skill unlock packs, it's going to take you a while to obtain the skills to build really good bars for your heroes.
3. Nightfall quests and missions were designed with heroes in mind. By the time you get to Kourna, your NF heroes should be level 20 or very close, so the EotN heroes provide no special advantage that will make NF easier.

the only down side that i can think of is that since those heros are already lvl 20, u will never want to use ur other heros. if you dont use ur other heros, they wont lvl. if your not careful, u'll end up going through life with only a handful of heros that are lvl 20, and they are only lvl 20 because they came that way. be sure to try and get ur non-lvl 20 heros experience. maybe bring just one with u that is not lvl 20 when adventuring. (once you yourself is lvl 20 ) another way to ensure that lower lvl heros gain experience is to always add them to ur party when u take quest rewards, then u can switch back to your high lvl ones for fighting.

So i guess there are downsides then =)
I picked up Vekk cause he seem to do alot of damage with his spells,
and left the other 2 slots for the lower level heroes.

One quick hint about leveling up Heroes that lots of people seem to forget: Heroes gain XP from quest rewards that you accept. So before accepting any rewards, kick Level 20 Heroes and put the lower level ones. Often you'll see them gain levels from quest XP.

Yea thats usually how they level up when i play atleast.
Do they get xp for quests that you complete in towns though?
Even if they arent physically there, they are still in your party
