i dontknow if this against the rules, but last year or so people talked about examining the gw dat file to find new minis/everlasting tonics or something of the sort. how is this done?

There was a pretty big thread which I can't seem to find now, suffice to say that it didn't seem worth the hassle to me.
If you find the thread then that will probably answer your questions.
