The Guild Wars community did NOT want Hero Battles removed
Chicken of the Seas
Heroes battles was a nice idea but poorly executed, and I never would play it. I kinda like this new arena though, its different but its growing on me. I can only hope that it won't be like people in heroes asking to show your rank first...
Andrew Dunne
I would highly doubt people actually WANTED it removed. I have never played certain forms of GW/didnt like certain items but there is nothing that I dont use that I want removed. Cant see how it hurt anyone to leave it, remove the ZQ means no one gets harmed, title is disabled means no one gets any titles or money for playing, no effect on economy. If people want to play they can, if not they dont have to. HB was for all its faults a unique format and a very good format at its core. Sealed Deck HB wouldnt be a bad idea but they're should be a format available to play with heroes again
Rocky Raccoon
HB was removed due to player abuse, you did it to yourselves. I get the feeling that most who want HB retained are just upset the can't get the rewards they got for not playing the game as intended.
Premium Unleaded
Wow, so much butthurt and qq over no longer being able to exploit a degenerate format.

I want my easy Zkeys back! =[

The first time that I actually ventured into the HB outpost was on the last RR-day. I RRed the majority of battles, only fighting in like some 5ish battles.
But, the battles that I did fight were actually quite fun. It was PvE in PvP - meaning I could mess around with things like Power Block and Blackout without the seriousness of PvP.
I enjoyed it.

Deep down everyone loved HB, just nobody was willing to admit it.

but who's to say that codex wont get rr days? it just takes a team of 4 people to leave and do you not think that there will be 8 people at a time who want to rr? look at how many districts there were during rr days in hb. |

HB was broken beyond repair, and full of cheaters so it wasn't missed. OP either doesn't know jack or was one of the ones who cheated the system and is now QQ'ing because he/she can't do that anymore. Either way I have to laugh
also I would like to take the time to ask: WHY HASN'T THIS THREAD BEEN LOCKED YET?

For the record, I was 100% OK with HB getting removed.
I only seriously played it on the last RR Day. Since I wasn't RR-ing, I pretty quickly climbed out of the RR crowd and into the "HB iz serioz busniz" crowd. I was having a great deal of fun right up until I started hitting meta players who were there to win by capping and capping alone. Trying to chase down and kill teleporters/runners/3-healer teams was difficult, frustrating, and not fun. I won against such builds occasionally, but it was quite clear to me that, while I had better execution, they had the dominant strategy -- a strategy that would always win at equal levels of execution. At any serious level, HB degenerated into a capping competition. It wasn't fun. It had no reason to stay.

TC, you DONT NOT REPRISENT THOUASANDS OF PLAYERS, take your bitchin ingame or support....HB was garbage and your mad you cant RR anymore, get over and good day.

I for one, want HB back, Codex arena is terrible... Its turning into TA, with requirements to get in a group, then when your in..... both teams have basically the same builds....
Bring back HB!
Change.
All that had to do was remove stupid RR... not remove HB

yeah because you think removing /resign(a command used through-out the whole game) from hb is even possible? they would have to remove it from the whole game, which isnt a fix, it would cause more problems.
Think about it. you would have to actualy leave the area(which could result in pvp-lock) or log out and reload your character(which could still result in pvp-lock). no, just no.
Because resigning isnt dishonorable in a pvp format. its a show of weakness no doubt, but not dishonorable(to the other team).
Unless.
Your a Samurai lol.

They announced they were removing HB BEFORE RR became popular.
HB isn't being removed because of RR day. People have been asking for HB to be removed pretty much since 1 month after its launch. Anyone who honestly thinks HB is being removed because of RR don't understand what was wrong with HB in the first place.
Rocky Raccoon
HB was just FUBAR.
Sha Noran
Sealed Deck is really badass, but the loss of Team Arenas surprises me. Could have just trashed the HB tbph.

/roll <#>:[Character] rolls (#) on a (#) sided die. This emote does not work in towns, outposts, or PvP combat areas. |

HB, TA and now CA = MAJOR FAIL. Nuff sedd...
Paradise Lost
They really shouldn't have removed TA and HB just to bring in SD.
SD is getting old really really fast, its so tedious and im wondering why they even got so excited about this.

How can SD get old when you have new bars each day? Talk about a short attention span.

The removal of HB was announced before the RR day crap started. It was removed because it was a broken format that was a waste of resources. You know what ANet say, if something's broken and they cannot come up with a solution to fix it, they kill it.

Actually, they could have removed it from PvP areas, just as they did with the /roll emote. From the official wiki:
Since there's no need to /resign in towns or outposts, setting up /resign the same way wouldn't cause any problems on the PvE side of things. Keep in mind that RR replaced /roll abuse in HBs. Of course, I don't know how it would affect other PvP areas. But if there are already people promoting RR in CA, then maybe it's something that A-Net could look into. |
Motoko
People didn't want the format removed because it was a cash cow for them.
Bad pvp format.
Bad for the game.
Pz out.
