I personally believe the UWSC nerf WILL happen after the Halloween event not only because of the lore of the THIS YEAR ONLY quest chain but because of the subtle hint in the last UW update notes:

If the rumours are accurate, I hope that UW would not be impossible to farm... I don't have NEARLY enough ecto for my obby armour...

Its just not ectos. Look across the board at most rares. Almost everything has jumped in value.

Ok i cba to read all posts but from first few i gather its along the lines of -
UW is gonne be removed etc .
My view - the uw quests are done by anet for halloween to get ppl interested in uw - what a way to show whats there by a series of running quests.
Removing uw is a lame scare idea put by others - uw is an elite area on all 3 campaigns hence is core - removing would be like removing eotn or another campaign from gw.
Fow armor would be mad to get if you have to farm topk .
Xmas quests would be stopped as they require uw.
Now lets think with a clear head - ectos rise in price ( which they done every so often then drop ) .. rise maybe due to recent uw changes .
The changes i would have imagined caught a lot of uwsc players off guard and a lot of normal players.
By the posts made after update the words - uw and nerfed were used a lot an that spreads panic.Also it would mean a number of uwsc fails an other fails which then lower the amount of ectos normally brought out of uw.
Another possibility is ppl stockpiling ectos - not for the halloween quests but if sf is nerfed then prices may increase a bit more till another viable uwsc build(s) is made or perfected.
Lastly as some replies have Economy in them and surely by now we should understand that economy means prices rise and fall - and this is probably the 3rd time in around 6 months ectos hit around the 6k mark .
So my friends - uw isnt being removed in my view ( think of removing all uw scrolls as they will be void an changing 3 campaigns to block it ) and this is just a tempory ecto rise within economy.
If your ecto farming then sell as usual ( or stockpile ) and if your ecto buying id suggest just wait till prices drop back to normal.

No nothing about removing UW,sarcasm aside, has been said...removing the ability to clear it in 12mins is being removed. Can no one read seriously? Shit happens and the economy changes, just roll with it and pray for a massive price crash that allows everybody to buy obby if they want and as many pairs of glowy hands they can grab. Why don't we all just calm down and see where this Halloween quest line takes us, most likely it will be the end of UWSCs and not the end of SF.
I personally feel that they should just remove the one skill that affects all areas rather than nerf one area to affect one skill. Nerfing something in UW does not stop SF from being used to speed clear tons of other areas, which I think is wrong and not the way the game was intended to be played. But that is just my opinion, not that of many people here on guru.

There are plenty of other uw builds to farm for ectos and shards. Losing SF isn't the end. Ecto farmers did it before SF and will continue to do the same after SF.

The ultimate way to ruin UWSC and SC for any of the elite areas is to make them group oriented only and no heroes or henchmen allowed. Also all ectos should only be given at the completion of a mission and by an npc not in a chest that can be opened with a key. The mission npc will only hand out the ectoes if all mission objectives are complete and those should entail the whole zone and a number of other npcs killed as well including several bosses. Also add a time limit that a minimum of 30 minutes must pass before the loot is handed out so if someone thinks they can figure out a faster way to speed clear even with a group they still will have to wait on the timer to collect their treasure. ) That'll fix them all.

Or just add an environmental effect called "Dhuumnation" which increases spell casting time by 25% and decreases move and attack speeds by 15%.
Also once the quests are completed you have to kill Dhuum. It's only fitting.

IMO this is a possible precursor to nerf UWSC creatively with Dhuum's rise to power again. This may not be a complete nerf of a SC but a different way to go about with the UW. For example, if they made UW have a linear quest set after this update, then the time would dramatically rise to complete the UW. Or, alternatively or in conjunction they will add/remove skills from monsters or environment that discourages the use of SF.
Tinkering with the spawns a bit or giving monsters self heals and diversifying the mobs could be a possible way to easily change the format of team play in UW.
And anyway anet said their next update would be in periods of 2 months meaning the next update would be Dec/Jan, and they did mention they want a new, fresh start in their PAX video interview...so wait a couple months and time will tell.
