Question about purchasing offhands from collectors.

Hi,

Does anyone know if offhands (shields/foci) you purchase from collectors and/or crafters are automatically customized at purchase?

I'm asking this because I know weapons (one/two-handed) are, and as far as I know offhands can't be customized at the weaponsmith. Yet again I can imagine ANet didn't want to put collectable offhands on the market.

No, offhands/shields are not automatically customized when bought from collectors

they aren't and Faction crafters offer really cheap alternatives if you are looking for 40/40 sets

No, anything bought from any weapon or offhand collector or weaponsmith is not automatically customized. The /bonus items are. There is no reason for A-Net to prevent collector item from flooding the market, because, with only a few exceptions, there is no market for collector items (they're just not e-peen enough). Collector armor is, just because are is auto customized by design.

At one point, when I was less jaded and pugged more often, I used to keep a few collector weapons and offhands available as gifts for team mates.

Actually, the article doesn't mention anything about whether or not the offhands from collectors are customized automatically, it only mentions weaponsmiths and offhands.

I asked here because I wanted to make sure I would get an uncustomized weapon before farming the required collectors items myself :P

They aren't.

The items given by storybook collectors are automatically customized, but other collectors do not automatically customize their items.
