The Rejected Sins/The Remaining Sins [SOF]

Many of us remember the "glory days" that was Heroes' Ascent before Factions and the old Tomb of the Primeval Kings. I think the addition of this arena will bring back many players and encourage more participation in PvP.

Basically I want an arena that:
  • Brings back the old maps (Scarred Earth, Broken Tower, Sacred Temples)
  • Removes the maps Antechamber, Fetid River, and Forgotten Shrines
  • Reverts the old objectives
  • Disables Factions, Nightfall and EoTN skills

Waste of developer time to bring back an old, shitty version of GW for the few people who like it.

A prophecies-only arena isn't going to encourage people to play PvP.

zahr: its not shitty, prophecies was perfect, then the campaigns started to f*ck over the entire game and many players left because of this... btw kat: you would also have to revert every proph skill to what they were.
even tho i said that^, /notsigned because it would be very awkward and.. meh.. what we need here is a huge, massive overhaul of the entire fokken skill/primary attribute/weapon system.. and this won't happen

Those Prophecies and Core skills are balanced for formats that also contain Factions, Nightfall, and Expansion skills, and other elements of gameplay. This wouldn't work.

lol, should we bring back IWAY? that's what i think of first when u talk about oldschool tombs/HA. It might be neat to do a weekend where u can only use certain skills from this or that campaign; but not an entirely seperate, permanent arena. no thanx.

I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but Heroes Ascent is a PvP arena.

I'm assuming you're using sarcasm and are aware of this, however. Perhaps the confusion arises from my use of "Campaign" to describe Prophecies? Campaign refers to the entire set of content in Prophecies, not merely the "campaign" as other games refer to it; that's what each Guild Wars game/volume/campaign is called. Campaign. And yes, it sucked when Prophecies was the only one.

it didn't, pvp was balanced, fully competitive and pve was a training area for pvp, missions were used to get you ready for pvp and you did fow because it was fun, a challenge(you couldn't faceroll it with random pve skills and broken hero bars that time) and balanced. not HEY I DEAL 300 DOMOGE WITH MY CRITSCYTHE BUILD, I R AWEZOEM!!4!4 I think World of Warcraft is a good game for you, try it! : )

The game was fine when Prophecies was the only campaign. But HA was terrible at that time. IWAY IWAY IWAY bloodspike bloodspike IWAY bloodspike bloodspike bloodspike IWAY bloodspike...

If you want to resurrect a meta for HA, the Factions meta is the way to go. Lots of stuff was viable, and all you need to do to make it eminently playable is kill two elites (Practiced/PD) or use modern Halls win mechanics.

With all of that said, you're asking for a lot of developer time for a niche project. Won't happen.

To say Guild Wars as a whole sucked when prophecies was the only campaign is pretty ignorant, considering GvG was at its height and was possibly the funnest aspect of ANY game ever. As for HA, it was pretty terrible at the time, but at least there was more motivation to do it...there was less rank discrimination and people were still impressed with the wolves and tigers.

As for your suggestion, it's not such a great idea. That would mean Anet basically admitting Factions, Nightfall, and Eye of the north ruined the game.

Factions didn't add much, and Nightfall is what made everything go to hell in PvP, and then EoTN made PvE terrible.
Yeah, prophecies was the best, but like said before, IWAY and bloodspike got a little old.
As nice as it would be to have a "balanced" pvp game, it's not going to fly.
Especially since many of the core skills and prophecies skills were changed due to the other campaigns.
The Prophecies game you're thinking of back then is different from now.

a weekend event might be nice, but that's it.


and for all those crying about 'eotn killing pve' etc - no one forces you to use pve skills or heroes in pve. go and beat the lich lord with proph-only skills and henchmen (no inscriptions either), it's still hell lot of fun.

Guild Wars was at the height of its popularity and profitability back during prophecies. You may feel that it is inferior to modern GW, but the vast majority of the playerbase, the majority that has quit and never returned, feels otherwise.

You'd need to revert all the skills back to Proph, and then probably fix a few but maaaaaaaaaaan would that be fun. I missed out on Proph only PvP and I'm looking through Guild Wars Memorial and it just looks so much more fun than PvP nowdays.
