With all the tonics & Trick or Treat bags going around at the moment, my character has made rather a lot of money.
With Halloween ending, it brings me to this question, what other items can I sell for that kind of money? baring in mind I am only as far as The Wilds mission.
Money, Money, Money!

There will be other weekends coming up soon with similar items that go for the same money such as:
Wintersday, around Christmas, where there's things like tonics, fruitcakes, snowmen summoners.
Thanksgiving last year had a weekend where some sweets and drinks (I think) dropped so we might be lucky this year too.

Feathers were the one for me
Since I was going for caromi scalps for the festival, they salvage to feathers but are also collectable during Halloween and Wintersday.
Feathers were going for 10 k a stack and I sold 14 stacks just from the ones I collected while getting the scalps.
The scalps themselves were turned into alcohol
Best part was the feathers sold quickly with lots of people spamming wtb feathers in LA and Kamadan

Many times the Nicholas item-of-the-week is a good way to make some money. If you have some in storage, like Kumu did with the margonite masks, you can pretty much start selling right away for starting prices (prices are higher right after Nick changes location and dwindle during the week because of higher supply, lower demand). Otherwise, farming the harder to get items will keep the high price for a few days (like the water djinn essences).
Otherwise, ectos and obsidian shards are always good. So are the materials used to make consets, feathers in particular.

My question is what kind of normal items sell at those values?

About the only day-to-day items you can sell are whatever item Nicholas is collecting for the week, and then it's going to be dependent on where he is, and what he wants whether you will have access to them.
You can see what is going to be wanted by collectors for Wintersday http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Winte...008#Collectors and start stocking up. That way you can be prepared when it starts in the middle of December.

Anything that can be converted into items that give points in the Sweet Tooth, Drunkard and Party Animal track will ensure you some profit.

zkeys and gifts of the traveler make me hundreds of thousands every month
and i don't even play much
it's easy, just think of what people want. useless and ultimately worthless things that are just a novelty and have a .0001% chance of getting something good. zkeys and gifts. kids go NUTS over that crap and it makes me rich.
but of course if you only pve and haven't even made it halfway through prophecies, you're totally out of luck. cause other useless things that people cream their pants and wildly overpay for are mostly eye of the north dungeon rewards. something to keep in mind though.
