I'm getting a new laptop after Christmas, but I was wanting to make sure that it would run Guild Wars before I get it. I was looking at this one. Would this be okay for playing Guild Wars? £500 is about the maximum I can spend at the moment I think.

Yes, it will play it. Id guess high detail, but it will play it.

Be wary with laptops. Only reason is they can heat up a lot and burn out the card thus making your laptop pretty useless. Im no techy but I know laptops are a lot harder to fix/customize then desktops, and I rarely play GW on mine because even though it looks and plays great, the card heats up like magma.

Then again that one could be fine. Like I said, im no techy.

That has an HD4570 in it. It will play GW without much effort.

i wouldn't be so sure. the mobile 4570 is essentially a desktop 4550, which means it shares the 64bit memory interface. it's likely to choke pretty hard at higher resolutions and AA levels.

it should be sufficient for GW, but i don't think it can max it out.

16" laptop screens don't really scream "higher resolution".

The laptop's rez is 1366x768 - not what you'd call high rez - and it has 512meg of dedicated video RAM. I think the HD4570 would be fine.

it will max gw at that resolution although AA may drop your fps noticeably it should still be playable with or without it....
