Long story short, I'm setting up a second PC next to my main one.

All the parts inside the tower are peices I've found floating around my computer room, basic motherboard, graphics card and 2x 512 RAM sticks. So the specs arn't brilliant but it will do what I need it to do.

Onto the problem, none of the monitors in my house are recognising the computer, either in any of the VGA slots (Motherboard + Gfx card) or in the DVI slot in the Gfx card. Yet all of these monitors work on my main PC and I've pulled the graphics card out of my brothers PC, which works fine in there.

Any ideas?

You probably need to get into the BIOS and disable the mobo's onboard graphics.

First thing to do would be to remove the graphics card and make sure that the monitor works with the on-board (motherboard) VGA connector.

To get into the BIOS/setup, check the screen as the computer starts up and see if it says something like "DEL to enter setup". The key may vary - it could be DEL, F1, etc. - and the BIOS may be referred to as BIOS or setup or settings or some-such. Check the manual to be sure.

Once in the BIOS/setup, navigate to where the onboard graphics is mentioned and set it to "disabled", or in some cases, "auto". Turn of the machine, reinstall the graphics card, plug the monitor into the graphics card's connector and...... with any luck.... viola!

I completely overlooked that as the graphics card originally came from this PC, then got moved into my brothers when I got a new one. Works a treat, thanks
