Love : that I can play any game and still come back to this game
Hate : how people complain so much about the game, and not just enjoy it as it is

Voodoo Rage
Love: Most everything
Hate:
- The lack of decent weapons and focus skins for casters compared to melee. (The Tormented focus stabs all my characters through the leg, the Celestial Compass is really underwhelming, the Destroyer Focus is probably the only good looking focus IMO.).
- The worms missions in Nightfall
- Missions where NPC's suicide themselves and you lose (Rurik, Danika, Togo, Mhenlo, etc...)
- The 100k gold limit for trades
- The lack of creativity for weapon mods (and yes, while inscriptions and cheap mods are all I know since I started in the post-Nightfall era, I can see how the "good old days" of rare mods being inherent on weapons drove a completely different sort of economy which I kind of regret missing out on.)
- Relative lack of value of drops from dungeon chests. (Personally, I think it would be more satisfying if rewards from chests and green drops were automatically customized and not trade-able).

Love: The gameplay, the graphics, Monks, Mesmers.
Hate: The community as a whole, the attitude is by far the worst of all games I played (possibly due to the competitive environment). I'm surprised even the moderation of forums doesn't stop the trolling that would certainly be stopped somewhere else - in fact even moderators act rude, which is really a major turn off.... Also hate Hammer Wars, Magebane Rangers and FF Curses Necros. lol. |
This for me as well.
Sola Stormbourne
Love: Instanced and great looking world. The ability to only play for an hour on a busy day and still get something done. Map travel. The ability to instantly change your skill bar and attributes.
Hate: Choices of armor. Too many are mostly the same or unflattering or skimpy (Female Ele's anyone?) without other options.
And I'll second the above post about the lack of choices for offhands and wand skins. If I play a warrior invested in swordsmanship, I get over 50 (?) options in inscribable equipment. If I play a Ritualist invested in Channeling, I get 4 inscribable wand skins, two of which are too expensive for new or casual players, leaving essentially 2 skins.

Love: Costume designs, especially Necro Kurzick Elite. The magical immersiveness of the pre-searing environment. The artistic commitment by Arenanet. The playing the first year of the game completely in character with my fellow guildies. The wonderful and creative friends I have met. The hosted art contests!
Hate: That too many of the players aren't interested in the "role playing" part in "role playing game". The linearity and text based approach of quest storylines as compared to other games like Knights of the Old Republic, Planescape Torment, and Mass Effect which utilize voice acting and dialogue branching.

Lets see, I did always hate the lack of an in game auction house.
I love that I can choose a weapon (and armor after they standardized all to use insignias) that I like the look of and can set it up to be stats I want. Not be forced to have something just for its stats.

I like how you are limited 8 skills at a time.
I don't like that there's no thought put into the trading system. Like no auction house.
Also, a couple posts above me. I do like how gear is the same for everyone, unlike other MMOs.

love: the ability to dress your pvp charrs with pve weapons and mod them anytime with the mod u want, skill before equipment pvp system
hate: quarterly skill updates (2 or 3 months now since last skill balance update? i mean wtf?), the lack of white/black dye for pvp weapons/armors, XHT delay

Love: This is going to sound odd to more experienced players, but as a relatively new arrival (I'm been playing for only a few months,) I love that there is soooooo much to do! Everywhere I look, it seems, there's something that can occupy my time-- and a lot of it advances some kind of story. I feel like I've already accomplished a lot, but have way more ahead of me than I've completed. Now, I know this is very different from how people feel who have been there and done that a million times, and that's totally valid, but for me, the sheer amount of content-- and more importantly, plot-- is astounding.
Hate: The lack of people ever being IC and roleplaying their characters. This is really personal, and people have every right to play however they want-- but it's different from what I'm used to. The world would feel more immersive to me if there were more options for playing characters rather than just stats.

My favorite things would have to be the festival events.
And the thing I hate the most is stagnant imbalance.
