Macros
some guy
I recently just purchased a Microsoft X6 Sidewinder gaming set. (Mouse and keyboard)
It's pretty amazing especially the detachable numpad and stuff.
So I remember a while back that macros are alllowed, so what are some good macros to use in this game.
Any suggestions?

I'm not sure how legal this is.. but a useful Macro would be a basic idea of this:
Press key for enchantment skill:
- Weapon swap to +20% enchant
- Use enchantment
- Weapon swap back to +30hp/+5AL
Press key for enchantment skill:
- Weapon swap to +20% enchant
- Use enchantment
- Weapon swap back to +30hp/+5AL

ArenaNet stated it was fine to use macros. And it is. They don't scan your computer for a macro setting or the memory chip on a device that holds the macro...they scan for YOU doing automated actions and not responding (being away).
They stated that if you make a macro that does work for you while you are away, it's against their EULA. If you make a macro to help while you are there, it's fine.

I made a few macros a while back that would play Imbagon for me. I could go AFK and just let them do the playing, then come back later and pick up loot.

Useful macros:
emotes (to rank people or when you are lazy)
target party member x + use skill y
skills you always cast in a certain sequence (Hi SF sins...)
The cancel action swap weapon trick
bind actions to mouse buttons the game refuses to recognize
If you can set the timing of the buttons, you can create a macro for Q-KDlocking (not sure if thats okay or not though)

I have a useful macro for 100B (that ultimately makes you better than everyone, as well) for use in FoWSC or any area that uses the Manlyway build.
34T5 (no delays)
On my skill bar:
3 = For Great Justice!
4 = Hundred Blades
5 = Death's Charge
And assuming you didn't change T from you original layout, it should be set to target whichever enemy was last called. So just wait for your MoP to call and press your macro button.
And although this one is unrelated to GW, if anyone bleeds Photoshop like me (CS4 here, not sure how compatible they'll be for other versions), I have a couple quick ones.
One-press Save As For Web:
CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+S to a single key
One-press Stroke:
Photoshop never had a quick-key combination for adding a stroke to your layer, so I just made a macro.
[via the Edit menu] ALT, E, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Enter.
[via Layer Properties] ALT, L, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Right, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Down, Enter.
You can add delays if you want but I don't have any and it works fine. (Although you may need delays with a slower processor.)

Now I just use the tablets macro keys to do the same thing.
The main one that I have used is this:
Esc, F(1,2,3,4) - Fast weapon swaps
You could even add in a spell to cast and a swap back as lejimmtohy mentioned. Although this one is better saved for use with programs like Autohotkey or if you keyboard has many Macro keys (Most I see only have 5-10). It can also become annoying if it switches back to a weapon set that you do not want to be in.

Since we're talking about Macro's anyway, I have a question.
I've been trying to bind the "Target Next Foe" and "Target Previous Foe" commands (GW defaults: Tab/] and [) to my mouse wheel, so that it selects the next foe when I move my mouse wheel up a notch, and selects the previous one when I move it down a notch.
I've been using a program called ATNSOFT Key Remapper for this, which was very easy to use and worked just fine. Unfortunately, it was only a monthly free trial.
Could anyone give me details on how an AHK script that does just that would look like? Any other software that could do the same trick would be just as great.
Thanks.

Try reading the AHK help guide, it could take a while to find, but if it's possible it should be in there.

Just make sure you have enough money to ship yourself and your rig to ANet HQ to show them that you aren't bluffing about not being a robot when your account suddenly gets a b&.
Otherwise, have fun. I wish I had a kind of keyboard or mouse that could do things like that.

Try grabbing AutoHotKey (It's free) and using keys you never use as macro keys. While I don't belive there is a function where you can record keystrokes and play them back, if your good with it you could set it up to run builds for you. That however, is against EULA. AHK works perfectly fine for weapon swaps, target and cast, consecutive skills etc.

It's against the EULA when you walk away from your PC with it still fighting for you.

Thanks for the feedback
The most useful thing thx for the suggestion is binding S1-S4 to ESC F1-F4
Fast swap is a breeze, even though i never had trouble mashing esc f1 esc before. It's just convenient.
also S5 - /rank enter
is very convenient too

As long as you are there moving your character along, running the build for you is not against the EULA.

I tried that with the old Energy Drain Boon prot:
1) Switch to 20%/20% recharge Inspiration set.
2) Cast Edrain.
3) Switch back to prot set.
The macro does step 1 and 2 fine, but it immediately tries step 3 while Edrain is still casting (even though it's a 1/4s cast) and can't. Unless there is some way to build a delay into your macro you can't do cast -> weapon swap, only weaponswap -> cast.

Sadly that doesn't work.

I know for mouse clicks your can use the function that looks like this: SetMouseDelay, xxxx
With xxxx being your delay number in miliseconds. The same can be done with keystrokes, simply use the work "Key" instead of "Mouse"
I had a little playaround with some scripts for you.
^q::
send 1
SetKeyDelay, 1000
send 23
When you psuh Ctrl Q this will push 1 and 2, then leave a one second gap before pushing 3.
Obviously for GW you will need to remap Ctrl Q to your chosen macrokey, and change 1,2,3 to Esc F1 etc. You may also want to change the number 1000 untill it does it perfectly for you.
