need some system specs to properly advise you but since you posted a PCI-E video card, I'm going to assume that is what you need.

If I were you and I had $80 I would buy this 9800 GT right here:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814500113

That will blow out the 9400 GT by such a huge margin in every video game that I can't even describe it to you. It's also a great deal.

I would go for this HD4670 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161287 and the best part its under your budget =]

Wait a few weeks. The X-mas, and after x-mas sales online will help you get a better video card under your buget.

I'd look for the 9800GTX+ to go on sale. Its got a lot of punch per dollar.

that card is terrible. why would you get it when there are much better alternatives like the HD4670, GT240, and the HD5670 that will probably be here by the end of the year?

the 9400 is a rotten video card for gaming - even if $40 is the budget limit you can buy a HD 4650 for under $40 with MIR at Newegg right now.

*I just bought one myself for a test station and it does quite well with some light video gaming as well - aka Rainbow Six Vegas maxed out settings (no AA etc) = low of 43 high of 62 while gaming in one of the more taxing graphics wise missions.... 1366x768 res. All that to say that there are far better cards out there, even for $40.
