My guild has been doing UW clears with a 'balanced' team. When it comes to the Four Horsemen quest at the Chaos Planes, we do a 4-4 split, however I am not managing to keep my side up long enough (I play Monk). The other side usually needs to help us as I slowly retreat and try to keep at least the Reaper alive, or someone who survived (usually wiping as I use res scrolls and run out of Energy).
I wanted to know if I'm doing something wrong (failing at e-management, etc), or our split is not well balanced; it's quite embarassing because it's only normal mode and using consumables, and I'm not a too bad of a Monk. Here's our usual UW team composition:
Paragon (imba)
Dervish (some high damage melee build)
SoS Rt
Wanderlust/Earthbind Rt
Water/Maestrom Ele
Curses Necro
2x Monks (usually WoH)
My side is composed of myself as Monk (WoH, PSpirit, Dismiss, Cure Hex, Signet of Rejuv, Prot Spirit, SoA, Seed of Life), Imbagon, Curses Necro and Earthbind Rt. The other side with WoH Monk, Derv, SoS Rt and Ele. I tend to think their side has the correct shutdown for the mobs (Maelstrom), and higher damage (Derv, SoS Rt), but I don't rule out it being my own fault or someone from my side.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Perhaps we should change the composition of the split, or my build entirely? Thanks in advance.

We did UW too with a balanced team, and we succeeded with this strategy:
1 Monk takes quest, rest of team goes to Pits side. They quickly kill both horsemen, and then rush back to monument, kill other horsemen, then rest.
Also, we had one monk bring RoJ + Archane Echo, rest heal. Really, it helped a lot. Let the RoJ monk spam RoJ and heal Reaper and party whenever possible, and the other monk heal party and if needed Reaper.

I'm no expert... but maybe you could try both spirit spammers dropping ALL their spirits on one side, then drop ALL their spirits again on the other side (out of range of the first set of course, and make sure they're spread out). Then they split. Might let you hold your side long enough for the other group to finish their side and come to help.
Or, assuming the SoS Rit has more spirits than the Wanderlust Rit... take him on your side. Keep replacing dead spirits - again to try and hold out long enough for the other side to come and help. Never done this myself but I've heard of people using this spirit-spam delay tactic successfully.
Probably don't need to completely wipe one side before helping the other... assuming you prot/heal the reaper.

My guild does UW with whatever anyone wants to bring (although we do like to have a monk or two)
At the four horsemen there is usually someone who can tank the lower side at the corner with monk support while the other 6 quickly kill their side and then come to kill the tank side.
If you can't do a 2-6 split with your team make-up maybe a 3-5 split would do.

Our team runs a 1-7 split.
The Rit SoS will take the Pools (west) side, and simply divert traffic for about 30 seconds, in which time- we will have taken care of our side. The hard part is perfecting the pulling and placement of spirits for the Spirit Spammer. Seeing as alot of SoS spammers are mindless, you had better practice alot before trying in Hard Mode.

to be honest, i would drop either the water ele or the wanderlust rit. it seems that there just isn't enough damage to make everything pop fast enough. defense is good up to a point but for 4H, you have to kill fast so you can get to the other side in time.

we've been running a 2-6 split.
2 rits on the pool side, just hold them off with spirits.
6 on pit side, kill fast and join the rits.

But really if you're worried about E-management or not having enough heals that's one of the easiest things you can do. Also I'm intrigued that there's no UA in your team set-up. In fight Rezzes must be horribley long and not useful to those rezzed.
As suggested plant the Rit on one side, I've seen proof that they should be able to hold one side long enough. Put the UA(Or second healer, w/e your team runs) directly in the middle in front of the Reaper and have them spamming Heal Party of something like that.

Also, your team's overall damage output seems low. Your problem may not be inability to buy enough time as inability to do enough damage in the time you have.

This doesn't hurt.

This is moronic. First, you shouldn't be dying often enough to need to spend an elite slot on a hard rez. Second, if you are dying that much, you are almost certain to fail at Dhuum when UA stops working. Better to fail out quickly and fix the problems with your survivability than to prop yourselves up for 2 hours with UA and then fail.

Lol UA
Ele is relatively garbage. Bring GDW on a rit, replace ele with another melee, then earthbind might be good. Drop wanderlust, random conditional KDs are horrible, run reclaim essence or ghostly might or anything except that |
