Okay well it's obvious that people tend to think of minis much higher value than tonics, seeing there are many more tonics than there are of the mini. But in the Wintersday contest, 20 Everlasting Reindeer tonics will be awarded to the top twenty entries. So my question is: How do you think this tonic will compare to, say the Mini Mad King's Gaurd(~12ke according to offers)
Thanks ^-^

1500e-2500e maybe. We all know that rarity of the item does not coincide with prices.
Panda, Island Guardian, Vizu, Oni, Naga, Yeti etc are all prime examples that are either too much or too little.
Taking into account the henchman tonics, all of which are unique, I'd say 2500e was pushing the price of the tonic.

My educated guess would be 10,000-20,000e. Look at the Mad Kings Guard mini... There were VERY little released to the public and there will only be 20 released for the EL tonic.

it can't be taken into gw2 through HoM like minis can. and 40-80 stacks of ecto is duping suspect if u ask me...Quote:

idk, i wouldn't think a tonic would raise that high

Having said that, I will reguess and say anywhere between 4,000-6,000e (and can go up or done depending on how much high-end collectors want it).

Depends.
If a non-everlasting version of this tonic begins dropping this wintersday, then the everlasting one might not be as big of a deal. If everybody in town has 80 regular reindeer tonics, the desire to buy an everlasting version will be slightly suppressed. |
But, seriously. I think people will be offering their firstborn children for these tonics.
Quite sad, really. :\

who doesnt wanna run around in ur fav game looking like a reindeer especially in the summer^^. i think there are 2 prices. a Before SF nerf + / - 5000e and an after SF nerf when everybody goes nuts about ecto's cuz the rare mat trader sells them for 9k now and people who sit on a shitload of ecto's will not be spending tham as easy as they used 2 so that would make ur tonic be worth around 3500e. BRING IT ON ANET. /Facepalm SF nerf!

You can't HoM a tonic, this makes a BIG difference.
If you want a hint at price then go back with memory to when they gave away 27(?) first Everlasting Beetle Juice Tonics - they were extremelly unique items unlike anything else in game, the only existing everlasting tonics with no other way of obtaining them anymore, and they were something very special, not just another tonic.
For the first several moths they were going for like 500-700e (ectos back then at ~8.5k) ... EDIT: it was post lootscaling update so [email protected]
The new ones just can't go for more than 2500e if there are no regular versions, and for more than 1700-2000e if there are some 1-use versions available.

If you are looking for "opinions" on the "value" of the Reindeer Tonic - my opinion is that Tonics are a worthless gew-gaw that have no "value".
(They do nothing to affect the outcome or advancement of the game, so they have no value.)
Of course, like anything else, they are worth what some sucker will pay for them.

On release 1500e+
After xmas ~1000e Pure guess really, but that's all anyone can do until they hit High End. |
Jinkies is right about item pricing being determined by the demand side as much as, if not more than, the supply side. Vizu sucks. Let's be honest. You can hardly see her, and so only the hardcore HoM types really want her. The henchman tonics are unique, but again they're just not that cool. As a rule, players want big, noisy, gaudy, flashy, look-at-me-I-am-so-cool things. Having the only item in the game that produces a blah effect is not nearly as desirable as having one of a very few items that produces a district-stopping effect.
There's some information that we still don't have that matters to demand on this tonic. Will the tonic be usable in explorables or just outposts? That'll matter quite a bit to the price. How large will it be? Movement animation? You can't estimate how "cool" it'll be in action from a snapshot.
HoM matters, but I'm willing to bet that not everyone bidding 10k+ ecto on dedicated Pandas is lying, and those don't go in HoM either...
I'd also say that the Mad King's Guard prices have some uncertainty built into them. We can feel reasonably confident that ANet isn't going to dump a bunch more Kanaxais or Pandas into the system. But these rewards might also be the rewards in next year's art contests. And the current pricing reflects that suspicion.
