Multiple GW Accounts

My wife and I each have a GW account and a NCSoft Account.

I ordered another Prophecies account but shipped it to my brother by mistake.
I will get this when I go home for Christmas. In the mean time I am thinking of getting GW trilogy (with free EoTN) directly from NCSoft.

Ignoring the entire multi-client quest, what are my options for managing multiple accounts? Do I want both new accounts linked to the same NCSoft account? Does each GW account need a unique e-mail address or is there a way to use a login alias/username (rather than an e-email address)?

If multiple GW accounts share a common NCSoft account, if one GW account gets suspended or banned, then will all the accounts be suspended/banned?

Is there anything else worth considering before creating the 2nd and 3rd accounts?

Umm thats incorrect. For each ACCOUNT you want a unique email address(ie just like you now have one for you and one for your wife) - (and Id suggest an NCsoft account for one only). If you want to add (say) Factions to a prophecies account, then you would add the factions key onto the prophecies account email.

I would say to not link them together,there is no rule against it so I wouldnt do it.
If one of the accounts got breached then you would possibly lose both if you link them.

About ban/supsension i believe if they ban any of your accounts they can ban ALL the acounts on the same ip adress.

As stated before, each account requires a unique e-mail address. As for NCSoft accounts; I have both of my guild wars accounts under one NCSoft account. Recently NCSoft started banning IP addresses so it makes no difference if they are different accounts or not. Just easer to add it to your existing account.

Based on some scary stories I've heard in the past I'd just make them associated to different accounts. That way, if anything should happen you would only have 1 messed up account instead of 2.

Anet is so ban-happy, keep your accounts separate and deny you have 2.

With no subscription fees they have no incentive not to ban people for anything once they have bought the game.

Think of them as a necessary evil, and don't make it any easier for them than you have to.

BTW, the only time I've heard of Anet banning IP's is for a perma-ban.

That's not necessarily true. I'm sure Anet wants GW1 players to buy add-ons like character slots and eventually move onto the sequel.

You would think so, but I've never played an online game where the developer is so nazi-esque with there banning policies and so quick to alienate their customers.

Irregardless, I would recommend positioning yourself so you can give your wife a bunch of chores to do or something so you can usurp her account if you take a ban.

Keep your accounts separate and stash a big pile of laundry somewhere. Enough laundry that it will take about 72 hours to get it all finished. If you get hit by the ban-squad, you just drag out the laundry and pitch a fit. Problem solved.

In short:

Do NOT link your GW accounts to the same PlayNC master account. Create individual PNC accounts for each one.

The emails must be different for each account.

And lastly, if you do share accounts with your wife never ever ever ever say it in-game to ANYONE because account sharing is considered a VERY big offense and the only way they can nail you for "account sharing" is by catching your chat log saying "I am on my wife's account" and vice versa. If you never say this in-game then you will be safe because they have no proof that you're sharing accounts other than the iP address logs showing the accounts have been accessed by the respective iPs (in which case who's to say you were not "using her computer?" )

Is that written down anywhere in the GW legal? Thats just nuts.

Even high-end business software is licensed by 'seat'. The idea that they would try to restrict the use of a legally purchased copy of a friggin game to one named individual is just ludicrous.

How could they legally enforce something like that?

Yes, the EULA expressly forbids use of the account by anyone else, with just one exception that I'm aware of.

edit: See License to Use(3) and Rules of Conduct(10).

It's a contract. Whether or not software EULA contracts are legally binding has not been tested, but they are free to revoke your license if you violate the terms of their agreement. That does not necessarily mean they will terminate the account, but they do give notice that it violates the terms of the license to share an account, and that the penalty may include termination, at their discretion.

I think it is only against the EULA because Anet dosen't want their support division flooded with support requests involving "hacked" accounts because their friend played and took one thing without asking and in the end support has to spend time figuring out what the hell happened. So it was easier for them to say it is against the EULA and don't do it.
