Dusty Pet.
Scary
Ive search the forum , but could not find a other sugestion.
I my self really like pets. Only I do not like to be a secondary ranger all the time.
So would it be nice to have a non atribute Pet skill. That alows yout to bring
your pet even without being a ranger.
It wont let u use all the other beastmastery skill, those are ranger only.
But a skill just to bring your pet.
Now there must be more players that would like their pet without the need of being a sec.ranger.
Just a shame of all the pets getting dusty in the Menagerie.

Whats the point? You need Beast Mastery for your pet to do any damage. The only people who would get anything out of this are IWAY players.

Pet = Ranger. It's something tied to being a Ranger. Also, whats the point of having a Beast that can not use Beast Mastery skills?

Pets or animal companions are special, a gift from the god if you like, so you must have the basic skill to summon/heal them and I think that is good.
That being so not signed for pets being available to none ranger prime or secondary.
secondary.
They could and should have some animals available through summoning stones which would do what you want and more since they would have skills and be effective.
always thought what's the point of having a pet that can't do its own darn skills.
I mean I know its part of the game but I hope they do away with it in gw2.
Some pets would poison some cause bleeding others knock down, it would all be with the pet type and the age and experience of the pet.

I my self really like throwing fire. Only I do not like to be an secondary elementalist all the time.
So would it be nice to have a non atribute Fire skill. That alows you fire magic even without being an elementalist.
It wont let u use all the other fire magic skills, those are elementalist only.
But a skill just to throw some fire.

Use a minipet, the idea already exists.

While you're at it, why don't we let non-sins shadowstep and non-rits cast weapon and item spells?
The pet is one of the unique mechanics that defines the ranger. If you want to use one, then you have to be a ranger of some sort. That's just the way it is, and the way it should be.

Ugh
-Make a ranger if you want a pet.
-A pet without anything in BM is a waste of a skill slot and will only hamper you by disabling your skills when it dies.
-It doesn't make sense for anything but a ranger have a pet when rangers are the only class with pet skills and BM.
-Pets aren't that good on a ranger so why would the do any better on a non-ranger class?
I was about to do something like this. Thanks for saving me the trouble. :D

Eh... The whole point in having a pet is so that you are a ranger primary/secondary. It just simply fits into the whole Melandru thing that rangers are "in tune with nature".
Having said that... If this was implemented GW would be very much broken and I could see a W/* having a pet using IWAY. 3 profession IWAY warriors? Oh heck no... :<

We have mini pets, summoning stones, and summoning skills. You don't need anything else!

Point of a ranger is too have a pet, and rangers should have pets, I use E/R and like it actually.

I can see how someone might want an animal companion just for the look, just as others go for a particular armour style or shield weapon combo.
If there were minipets of the correct size then the idea would work whatever the character class.
I can envisage a character of mine that might have a normal sized raven flying around or perching on my shoulder.
If however the idea was to have a combat companion whatever your prime and secondary class then go for summoning stones.

On top of just being an affectation, this is also detrimental to parties because not only are you wasting a skill slot that could be used for something USEFUL, you also risk the skills disable when the pet dies that could be at a very critical time. People who take pets just for shits and giggles annoy the hell out of me. If you want to have a pet, then be a ranger and make it do something that will help, instead of hinder, the teams.
