A/W Sword??
xKyo
this question has been asked multiple times before, but most of the times the question was addressed it was in 2006... and I was wondering if theres any effective A/W sword builds out there just so I can use the damn katana for the "Cool factor" >:]

Well with Way of the master and Critical Eye you can make any weapon work on a sin.
Although the sword's crits are the second lowest of all weapons, lowest being daggers.
So this is what you can end up with for pve: Barbarous slice, Gash, Sun & Moon, Whirlwind Attack, 100 Blades, Critical Eye, Way of the master, Critical Agility.

Rofl, I've done this. Purely for the enjoyment of saying I can use a Katana.
I 100b on my Sin in FoW as well. Works just as well as warrior does IMO.
I've tried the Shinobi Blade but I think it looks like Crap compared to the Katana.

Agreed on 100b

Asuran Scan, BUH, 100b, Sun&Moon, Whirlwind, Critical Eye, WotM..
Using this with Red rock candy should pwn.
Cheers

Hohoho, so you wanna be like Naruto?
All I can say is with high amounts of critical strikes attributes, Way of the Master, and Critical Eye, virtually every single weapon can serve as a critical fest weapon (well, except for wands and staffs since they do have low critical rates). I normally prefer daggers due to the rule of cool and high attack speed at 16 Dagger Mastery, but I would actually prefer scythes (since you can hit up to three people and with Critical Agility, the energy gain is reasonable) or bows (Barrage anyone)? Swords can be great if you use in conjunction with Hundred Blades like what others mentioned.
Don't try using hammers, they have the same speed as a scythe and just only hit one target.

one target huh...wow i tohught they hit 3 adjacent as well

This is a good build. It does heavy damage. You need at least 25 energy to activate the required skills in the build. You have 33% IMS with a high Critical chance. This means you will constantly gain energy.
xKyo
thanks for all the replies
i have a related question though... how does this build compare to others? is weak or is it actually useful?

You'd probably be more effective as a Warrior wielding a Sword than the A/W using the above builds, but you won't notice too much of a difference. Don't try bringing this to PUGs though, since you'll likely be kicked.

Just out of curiosity, and maybe I'm missing something, but why no D-Slash? High crit chance with Asuran Scan and the +damage from D-Slash has to be hot.
Konker2020
D-Slash on a Sin works extremely well.
D-Slash, FGJ!, A Scan, Crit Agility
The rest are optional. Very high crits.

And by the way, drop the shield, it's only for pussies.

Again, Hammers aren't as effective as Scythes for dealing AoE damage, sorry if you thought otherwise.
Swords can be used, but unless you're going with a Dragon Slash or Hundred Blades build as has been suggested already, you're only going to be doing it for shits and giggles. Sword has a higher critical than Daggers, but Daggers have higher armor-ignoring bonus damage on skills and Double-strike.

I know that Hammers aren't very good at dealing damage, but they give knockdown. While the main point of an Assassin isn't to knockdown a foe, it does assist greatly in killing.
