XTH ever coming back?
Imperatice Flames
Hey all. I just wanted to see people's opinions on Xunlai Tournament House and if you think it's ever going to come back. I read an article on Guild Wiki I think it was, that they WOULD bring it back and distribute the points we didn't get for that one certain month. Also, each account would get bonus reward points for the inconvenience. So, where is XTH now?
Feel free to discuss and put in your own opinions to it.

I wouldn't bring it back. Market is stable now and surely it doesn't need hundreds of zkeys thrown on market every month or so.
Also people with many accounts will have huge benefit.

My opinion;
I wont believe in it that the XTH will come back. After they're update it is taking already so long. I think we need to wait till they say :"Sorry, we cant fix the problem. XTH is removed from the game."

XTH was the reason i bought more accounts...I feel cheated...mislead...

Don't know if it will come back for good and don't care but we still need to get the points distributed they stated we would receive in support tickets etc.

It's been what, almost a year since XTH has gone down? Myself and I'm sure alot of others have given up hope that it will return. But if it comes back, well then yay, free zkeys. If not, then life will go on.

I would ask. Did they made XTH to make people buy more accounts? Im pretty sure they wanted to keep it 1 player 1 account .
i'd say blame your greediness if you feel cheated. |
Let's move on to the crux of the issue though shall we? ANet did NOT eliminate the XTH by choice. If their intention was to get rid of the XTH because they realized "oops, we didn't want to feck up the economy", then they don't even get brownie points for that because all we're left with is the image of a bunch of incompetent boobs that wrecked the damn thing while trying to improve it! If you want to know why everybody hates ANet over this debacle it's because they either lied to us, or they're genuinely incompetent. Neither of those options are the hallmark of a company I would give my business to again, and the clock has pretty much run out on their chance to make good on their promises.
As a side note, what you said about greed was spoken like a true jackass. On good faith a lot of people had confidence that ANet was capable of running/maintaining the XTH. It had a few bugs but everyone always got their points eventually (in under 8 months anyways). There's nothing wrong with wanting to get something for your money, and while it's of course true that what you get for your money is the account itself, you can't help but feel a little pissed off when you can be damn certain that ANet KNEW the XTH was a big selling point.

LOL enjoy playing ure 10 accounts pmsfl ...as for XTH its been so long i forgot about it...which i reckon is what Anets hoping we all do.
stanzhao
i reckon anet just saw the accounts start to sell when they introduces xth, then as the sales decreased and they realised they had made all the money they would out of it, they flicked the switch.
anet dont give a shit about it. its been forever now, they dont even do skill updates anymore, gvg map rotations? quaterly updates?
yeah.... gg

For a non-montly-fee mmo or (cco) game such as Guild Wars, the business model should be as clear as water; the more unit sold, the better. Yes, the same business model as offline console games.
Aside from the in-game shop that sells upgrades, the main source of income is from new players picking up the game or current players who buy additional account for various reasons (mule, multiple guilds, etc.)
The introduction of XTH is without a doubt a tactic to get the current player base to buy more accounts for the rewards. From my point of view, the amount of new players picking up the game now should greatly decreases due to its age. Anet had to shift its focus on the current players.
XTH is a brilliant idea if its sole purpose is to bring more income in from the current player base. And i'm sure it was as it had worked wonder. How many times have you heard on forums and from guildies that mentioned they bought more account solely for XTH? I'm certain that anet's sale skyrocketed during the time of XTH.
Those who thinks a "1 person 1 account" deal is anet true motive from the start should reconsider. If i'm anet, I sure won't mind selling extra accounts to the same player. Additionally, the extra account this player has won't be a server hog as knowingly the account will just be used for mule and XTH predictions. Isn't this a win tactic? In a perfect gaming world, the "1 person 1 account" model may seem less far-fetch. But this is reality, anet is a profitable company, thinking up of ways to keep the profit growing is what all profitable companies do.
P.S. I think XTH was fixed a long time ago, maybe never was broken. It might have pissed off too many "1 person 1 account" like-minded players and threw the in-game economy off balance. I'm thinking they are looking for a way to be profitable and at the same time not having to pissed anybody off. Good luck with that, anet.

Hopefully not.
It inflated the key value in mere months, in terms devaluating the reward that was meant primarily for pvp players, after it was finally added after over 3 years of complaining about how there was no way to spend faction.
If it was actually to be brought back, it ought to be in something close to it's original form.
Predict the winner of the tournament and win something.
If you get it wrong, you get nothing.
Wouldn't be an optimal functionality, but it would certainly imitate the original intentions a lot better than the previous.
As for optimal, that would be reviving the game so the tournaments would be big enough for some random monthly list of 8 guilds wouldn't be anywhere near enough to reap huge rewards due to difficulty in predicting.
With this in mind, then keep the piece of crap out of the game since none of the solutions are ever going to be realistic.

Nty, XTH is like legal gold buying.

I think a better solution is to make zcoins a reward rather than zkeys and make zcoins account transferable. That way zkeys remain valuable and a reward for PvP play.
Also the kind and amount of zcoins you earn would depend on your final prediction score.
I think this would be better than rewarding just zkeys.

Ugh
Anet decided they didn't like the idea and disposed of it in a way that was least likely to anger GW players.
Good move in my opinion (although they should have forseen the problems that XTH would bring).

I doubt it.
It's been 7 months since the XTH went down and we haven't heard anything for 3 months (not even a "we're working on it"). Anet wouldn't keep a lid on something they've fixed. They broke it permanently, and they're just waiting for us to all give up on it before they announce it.
I wish it were back. I miss giving a rat's ass about the mATs.

people would just end up buying the coins from someone else to get the keys anyways

I wish they still had it, I dont think they should be allowed trade Rp's for Zkeys. ONLY ARMOUR! haha nah, but i would like it back so i can buy pvp armour.
Icy The Mage
100% Agreed, I wish it would come back - incredibly incompetent move on their part (imo).

The first time I ever did XTH was when it shut down lol. Yeah I would like to see it come back.

For me, this has nothing to do with "oh, I need plat, I need Zkeys, it was fun, they need to fix it cause we somehow deserve it."
Instead, my point of contention is if they can't get this to work, and follow through on their word on this, why should I believe they will when it comes to GW2? I mean, the quality of their support has waned substantially and while many may make the naive argument that "oh they'll really support gw2 cause its their new game," look at what's happening now and inevitably, this will be the quality support GW2 gets eventually. Anet has not fixed this in a timely manner OR kept us informed upon saying they would (even if there's not much to say) both of which amount to Anet not keeping its' word.
