i was wondering because back when fire imp first came out i decided it was finally time to link my account to a NCsoft thing is there any way to disconnect it or something to it no longer has anything to due with my account? i dont have anything worth taking but still id rather not like almost 3 1/2 years worth of progress

I have been reading other threads and it would appear that there is NO way to "un-link" your account.
Most people with valuables use an alternative un-linked account to store them. Since you are more worried about your "progress" im afraid your just going to have to update your virus detection software regularly and STAY AWAY from suspicious E-Mail.
oh yea, cross your fingers and hope for the best

I have been reading another thread about account security, keylogging/hacking schemes, and issues people have had with NCsoft account linking. I was finding a lot of the information very interesting.
Admin apparently decided to close the thread. I don't know why.
All the other stuff on this forum is fun and interesting to talk about but, in the grand scheme of things, its all trivial compared to the security of the information you give to Anet. Especially since they also host other games and hold credit card numbers of many of the people on this forum. Probably many more people whose parents put out their own information for them.
I know I have a lot of time invested in my GW accounts but, hey, its just a game. If it gets hacked and I lose all my stuff, there is actually no tangible loss. Granted, I'd be pissed off, but I'm really not out anything.
What is in question, however, is how seriously they take the security of my information. I pay for my daughters AION account, and if I get one hint my payment information isn't secure, I hold up my 'go F yourself' finger on my way out the door.
