I recently got back to Guild Wars after quitting for like 2 years. I have always played as Prophecies Warrior, did pretty much everything on him, and also played as Prophecies Elementalist quite a bit.
I'm interested in creating a new character to spend some time on, but not sure which class would be a lot of fun to play as.=p Also, are Factions and Nightfall any fun to start a character in? I got all 4 games btw.
So, I'm kinda looking for suggestions and ideas; which class could you recommend and why?
A new character

Yes,
Rit,Paragon,Assassin,Dervish
Rit> Great damage dealer ( SoS) or can heal
Paragon> imbagon=gz
assassin> can almost solo everything in the game and can make loads of money
dervish> tank+ high damage dealer and can also run drok

Ritualist: They are very useful for their Weapon Spells which are basically enchantments but unstrippable, holding items and dropping them to cause damage or heal the party, Spirits (almost like summons) which they can now spam and cause a really good amount of damage, and also heal with Restoration magic.
Paragon: Basically only used for Imbagon which gives the whole party (except the Paragon) +100 Armor for nearly 100% of the time. They can also run other kinds of support builds that aren't as popular.
Assassin: They use just about anything in the game because of their Critical Strike attribute causes total chaos. Most known for using their own Daggers or a Scythe though.
Dervish: Scythe-wielder that has to maintain enchantments and is pretty versatile with builds. Most people look down on Dervishes but it's my favorite class to play. /bias

I'd take a different approach. Pick a character of your choice, make a pvp char, get a build from pvxwiki.com and play random arenas.

I don't see how you can't continue to play without at least once making a ritualist for a spirit spammer. Most fun i've had with a character class/build in the game yet honestly. Factions is a pretty quick campaign to beat too so its perfect.

Except PvP is very different from PvE thanks to the skill split and PvE skills. I'm looking primarily at Ritualists. Spirits in PvP are very different from spirits in PvE.

I'd recommend a ranger, especially in the beginning when you don't have all the correct builds yet it's pretty fun to play. and rangers can do just about anything (except casting effectively :P)
I play on my ranger as R/W with barrage +Save Yourselves, R/Rt spirit spammer (damage + additional body blockers) R/D with scythe and Asuran Scan for Big damages. R/* with asuran scan and point blank / zojun's shot for big damage.
R/A for discordway caller
R/* with punishing shot, savage shot and distracting shot, for über interrupts. (no seriously, during gate of pain no terrorweb dryder got their liquid flames / meteor showers off.
R/W with axe for über lolz.
R/* with Wilderness survival for traps
really a lot of choices to play, with some more effective than the others, but they're definitely fun

Go for Assassin. They can do insane amounts of melee damage and currently the best tanks in the game. They can also run and farm very well.

You might want to tell us which playstyles you like, for example whether you like melee, ranged, or spellcaster, and whether you want to play a key role or support.
Since I don't know any of that, I'd recommend Warrior and Ritualist because there are a ton of viable builds (compared to some professions like Paragon where people expect you to run one specific build all the time) and they're fun.
