Hero ideas for a Necromancer?

Lately I've been considering starting my Necro for PvE.

However, up until now, I've been a total SYtard, be it Warrior, Paragon, and even Assassin. And this time I will be playing a Necromancer.

This has led me to a problem.
What kind of heroes would I use on a necromancer? Anyone have any ideas for a caster setup?

Due to the nature of Necromancer, I would assume Discord may be a nice option for things. But I've never been a big fan of it.

And the problem with the Necroway is that I have all the roles already filled. Olias is MMing, sexy Livia is healing, and Olias cursing with Enfeebling Blood.
So what options am I left with? Would I just take an entirely different hero? I've been a big fan of Human minion bomber builds for countless time, but that will leave me short on action and slots I could use for valuable PvE skills. Curses, however, seems a little more appealing because I can aim for my own targets as opposed to heroes using it badly, AND I can combine it with PvE skills. However, either I do, I`m still left with another hero slot.

What would I use for it?


Using a warrior would be kind of useless due to bad AI and no SY. So that's booted out of the list.
What else would the team need, really? I'm thinking something on the offensive line since I'm skeptical about caster heroes for damage.
Does Splinter Barrage work on heroes any good now?

sig of spirits as elite + bloodsong, and the rest of the skills from the saabway resto rit: life, 3 heals, rez and so on.

I prefer a necro SoS mostly because they have better energy management. With a Rit hero you have to take up a slot on Spirit Siphon.

An SS necro with MoP works well with a VoR mesmer, an AotL MM bomber and a N/Rt healer hero. I recommend bringing the two healer and the two melee henchies.

I usually run this setup on my necro, the N/Rt bringing Icy Veins as an elite in most of the cases.

Depends on what you, the player want to run.
If you decide on Discord, I expect you know what to do.

If you want to run AP-MoP, then I would suggest a MM hero with some defensive utility on him (Empathic or Divert Hexes is nice and either Aegis or Prot Spirit or both). I would also suggest a Paragon Hero with some nice defensive shouts.

I almost always run with Vekk as an ER Healer on all of my characters now. He's much more reliable than N/Rt healers and henchmen monks. Trouble is, when his energy does drop, he won't recover it himself with ER.


Lately my Necro has been running with Fevered Dreams a lot. That's with Vekk, Whispers as the MM and Ogden has RoJ-Smite support.


Necros can also run Spirit Spam builds, but you lose out on high Channeling ranks. You can bring Rit heroes for that.


Or just run more or less standard Sabway and kick the hero curser and run the SS bar yourself.

You can go play MM or SS. Then you take the two other necro heroes. Then fill the last slot with what you like;

1. SF Nuker
2. MB Nuker
3. Spirit Spammer
etc

i use with my ele:
SoS support
Ward ele (cause its good for caster classes)
Woh monk/ER healer/resto healer

kick olias, make yourself a nice SS build, bring a third hero ( SoS, splinter barrage, whatever). healing and protting are supplied by the henchmen.
