Exchange rates change. When they were first put it in the store 10USD would have been equal to 9 Euro, but with the US dollar becoming rather weak this has changed.
Right now I'm buying games from the US for around 30-40% less than they cost here due to low USD and high NZD.

I don't like the extra I'm charged either, but nothing is as bad as being asked to pay ~£40 for a $50 purchase when the exchange rate was better than 2:1 in Sterling's favour.
