Anyone else with password problems/cannot log in?

I have a dilemma:

Changed my password because of bulletin and now I cannot log in to my account. The old password that I changed from does not work, and the new password I changed to does not work. I have verified many times I am not using caps lock or making an error on my end.

On attempt number three or four, the game just pops up a windows that says "connecting" like the servers are down or lagging or something.

Icing on the cake:

In order to re-reset my password I need to log in to my plaync master account. My master account was created years ago and since I always thought account maintenance was taken care of in game I forgot all of the information. My master account is linked to a now nonexistent e-mail address so even though I did remember the recovery, the e-mail is being rejected from some mail server somewhere and I was told by support the only way to get the recovery is to snail mail them my access keys to prove I am the owner.

Anyone else having these issues?

I had the same problem. But, it turned out (in my case and a few others) that it was my fault.

You see, the PlayNC reset only allows you to type 13 characters whereas GW lets you type quite a bit more. So, I was typing too many character for my passwords.

Hopefully that's all that's happening with you. Check the number of characters.

if I assume correctly, you mean cut off my password at the 13 character limit when I try to log in.

I had this same problem. Tried to change my password via the in-game client; it wouldn't let me. But then for some reason after I gave up, I couldn't log in with either my old, unchanged password either. o_O I then changed it successfully from my PlayNC account, but then when I tried to log into Guild Wars, it still said my password was incorrect, both the old one AND the new one. I contacted tech support, but by the time they helped me, I had rechanged my password again from my PlayNC account and for some reason, it magically had worked even though I had done that last time and it didn't. Well, at least I can log into the game now...

But now I can't log into my PlayNC account and I hadn't even touched that password. WTF? I get a "it's incorrect!" error. At this point, I kind of just gave up and said screw it. Still can't log in though and tech support still hasn't responded. Whateeeeever.

Uh, so in the end, I have no idea what is going on with anything. I would try changing it with your PlayNC account if you have one. That's how I ultimately (somehow) got mine to work.

Well, looks like my PlayNC account was blocked due to a possible intrusion of gold sellers. Ay-ay-ay. Add me to that list, then. (Although it was probably just me. It probably looked weird to them with all these passwords getting changed around so they locked me out. All my stuff is still intact, though, so I'm happy.)

Well, I'm afraid to do that because what you're saying is that although you changed your game/client password, that action messed up your PlayNC account. I think I'll wait until the S***-A**es over at NC Soft and Arena Net extract their thumbs.

Another prime example of Anet/Ncsoft F*** up, someone came up with the idea that "hey why dont we make it so that the game player can not change their log in details so that if they mislay or lose acess keys, even better they can no longer gaon access to the originating email log in, then they'll have to buy the game again, WINNERS all round except the game player"

Zzzz trying to change my password as well. Too bad I only made my NCSoft account to get the Xunlai free storage pane, so I never bothered to remember the details. Currently have been waiting a week to hear back from them if they recognize me as the owner or not. The only thing I could not show them is my access keys, because who actually keeps those little cards for years? Not like you ever need them again.

Why couldn't they just let you change your password in game?

I'm too scared to change my password. They have made such a pigs ear of the whole thing.

You can, at least I can, once I login down the bottom left there is an 'Edit Account' button, I click that check change password box, type old pass then new one twice and Bob's your uncle.

Yes, that also worked perfectly for me.

This is why i wont change my pass :/ i have moved house since i bought the game.. reciept + game cards i have not kept.. so if it messes up then im f**ked.

But, last time i changed my password in game i didn't have to go to plaync (Luckily ) Only thing i would have to go to plaync for is to change the mailing address...

EDIT: i have just thought, if my password messes up, i can always reset the password back to my email so i can reaccess my account :P

I had an honest to god nightmare last night that my account got stolen. I woke up in tears. So I went to PlayNC to change my password but it turns out my GW account isn't linked to my PlayNC Master Account, even though I have the anniversary storage pane. *shrug* I'm still thinking of a password that I'll actually remember but a bot would have a helluva time coming up with.

I am having this issue. I tried to change my password in game and haven't been able to log in since Thursday.

I contacted GW support but they haven't gotten back to me.

I just did that not a minute ago, in fact (genius me forget the password to my second account, which isn't linked to a Master Account). Worked perfectly fine.

I contacted them thursday as well and as of today have received no response other than that my ticket was escalated to another department. Hopefully they are just a little busy because of the weekend and I will get some help soon.

Not being able to log in is stupid.

This really needs to be reported on in IGN.com and all the game magazines. The gaming public needs to know about all these issues.

EDIT: Looking at my post, I realize I didn't have any input when it comes to this new log in problem. Other than this problem adds to the reason why it needs to be reported on in the public.

That did NOT work for me. I hadn't played in a couple years but I had all of my access keys, all of my receipts and so on. When I tried to login to play again after a couple of years, I saw the security warning to change my password and a link to go do it. I have the same email account associated with the account and so I thought, 'hey, no worries' and merrily clicked the button. That was my first mistake.

I waited but when I didn't get a new password I contacted "Support", and that was my next mistake. After too many emails with them, in which I supplied all access keys, copies of all online store receipts and so on, they said that they could not give me a new password unless I now mail in photocopies of all of the access keys and receipts. Even though all of the information that I submitted was accurate according to "Support".

I've come to the conclusion that first the game is old, and I've maxed all of my characters so it's not worth this effort, but second I'm NEVER going to be able to satisfy them with the information even if I sent them the boxed cd's and dvd's with access codes and receipts.

In my opinion, NCsoft appropriated my account, through no fault of my own.
