Rare Miniature Event
Voltaic Ectoplasm
Hey All.
This isn't anything MAJORLY big.. but i've seen rare minipet giveaways and most of them are given away around america... japan.. and other places near there..
As i am from England it would be nice if they hosted a Minipet giveaway over here too... Most of you will probably be against this as not alot of you are probably from here but To me its a good idea..

Of course its a good idea to you. A free 1000e-20000e ecto giveaway?
How bout you keep powertrading for the minipets and leave them at their inflated value.

No they were horrible, elitist ideas to begin with. I'm from englan too and honestly don't want that kind of crap in my country.
Benderama
definetley! we never get any of the minipets over here in the UK
it isn't really fair that people in certain countries have the chance to gain more money (or items), whilst people in another country have no chance. oh well, least theres still plenty of miniature oozes

I live in England too and totally agree with you

Or put every miniature in the Zaishen Chest. Every single one of them becomes less rare, prices deflate, powertraders QQ but everyone will be able to catch 'm all.

Miniature Vizu - 0.2% (Zaishen Chest)
Miniature Panda / Miniature Island Guardian - 0.3% (Zaishen Chest)
Miniature Zhed / Miniature Shiroken - 0.4% (Zaishen Chest)
Miniature Oni - 0.5% (Zaishen Chest)
Miniature Naga Raincaller - 0.6% (Zaishen Chest)
Miniature Yeti - 0.7% (Zaishen Chest)
This way they will still be really rare........
Also i got this other idea.... If anet make some new high end content (Harder than UW / FoW / DoA) and put a Miniature Kanaxai there at a 0.1% drop rate..
Or instead of wasting there time make a Miniature Urgoz.. and put Kanaxai in the Deep and Urgoz in .. well Urgoz :P
Miniature Kanaxai - 0.1% (Deep Chest)
Miniature Urgoz - 0.1% (Urgoz Warren Chest)
Let the Flaming begin

And I don't care about the mini's anyway. I would like it if the panda dropped down to 5k so I can buy one too, don't care if they are not rare, its about the looks right? ^^

I think having miniature pets in Guild Wars would be stupid.
What would be the point?

First you need to come up with a new mini they would add, a reason for them to add it, and an event for them to host in Europe (notice I didn't specify a country) to give it away. Outside of Nicholas I haven't seen a new mini for a long time, and the special event ones have been around for a long time.
Vizu and Kanaxai were both given out in 2007. Vizu was available in Europe from a magazine, and Kanaxai was available to anyone via the Wintersday Art contest (so was Vizu).
Grey Giant and Asura were available through magazines in Europe, and the Destroyer of Flesh was available to Europe through the use of the Asuran key codes.
Shiro-ken and Zhed were both available in Europe through magazines.
Ceraton was available to anyone with internet access, which is anyone who plays GW.
Grawl, Oni, Yeti, and Naga were all available to Europe through magazines.
That only leaves the Panda and Island Guardian, but the Island Guardian was available to ANYONE through the same Wintersday Art Contest as Vizu and Kanaxai.
They are rare, but which ones were limited to areas outside Europe? Except for Japan and Taiwan, all of the minis given away were done through a website or magazine promotion. I just don't understand what you want for Europe that wasn't already done.

Blue Gardener
Please remember that most of the 'rare' minatures that were given away were merely made for promotional reasons, for which you mostly had to pay real money to get (buying magazines or travel to this or that event) or win a tournament (attracting more players) etc etc.

With all the micro transaction going on, Anet may as well put a rare mini package up on
their store.
rare mini package = $50.
I wouldnt be surprised there will be even more idiots willing to shell out the cash >.<

Point 1. I don't really care too much about collecting all the minis unless they have a direct correlation to something nice in GW2.
Point 2. Anticipating that having collected all minis vs. just having collected the bare minimum will have a greater effect, I speculate that they will have some nice effect in GW2.
Therefore, I'm entirely in support of the idea of moderately propagating the ultra-rare minis. What's the worst that can happen? The 50 people who have collected and hoarded them get a dent in the value of their storage? I have some of those guys in my guild and I'm still in support of this idea. It's ridiculous how much some of these are worth.
I realize we've strayed from the OP's idea of just having one for UK/Europe, but the point he brings up is far larger than what he started with.

Sorry, at one time the sun never set on the English Empire. However, England ceased to be a world power once they gave up colonialism and then sealed its fate with the liberal immigration policies under Churchill. When I read that the number one boy's name for new babies born in England was Muhammad I knew that, to quote a song, "there is no England anymore." So, if we are going to reward a give away to special country, I think it should be one of importance and deserving of such favoritism. Therefore, I nominate Grenada.
Grenada is one of the English territories given independence in 1974. It is approximately 133 square miles and has around 90,000 population. I believe Grenada's importance in the world is its large manufacturing and exporting of grenades, from which I am almost positive, it got its name.
We all know how vital grenades are to military operations. The complete range of 'nades Grenadians produce range from the tiny smoke grenades children use in the USA on the Fourth of July, to the workhorse pineapple grenades in the military, to the unbelievably powerful "Holy Hand Grenade" made famous in the movie, Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail.
The small size of the country would make it ideal for any giveaway. With only 1000 minis given away, 1 in 90 people would get one, making it nearly impossible for each family not to win at least one per household. Furthermore, the influx of rare minis into the country could boost their standard of living when they sell them on Ebay. The grenade business is in a downturn due to Obama winning the Nobel Peace prize 3 days after being elected president in the USA. In addition, the aura that radiates from the halo around his head and the intellectual brilliance of his teleprompter, when it is not breaking, has peace breaking out around the world. Therefore, Grenada could use a boost to their economy due to lackluster grenade demand worldwide. If the residents see how much money they can make from ebaying rare minis, then this might spawn a second industry in Grenada and they might become farm bots and challenge the Asians in gold selling on Guild Wars.
I think I have now pointed out why Grenada deserves one more than most other countries in that they are vitally important to the military war complex that has always been a part of human history and always will be. In addition, we can see a rare mini giveaway would have many positive effects in a country like Grenada. It is egalitarian in that the population is small enough that nearly all entrants would win one. There could be future social benefits to getting the Grenadians addicted to Guild Wars if they can take a lot of the economic profit out of botting and ebaying by undercutting the Asians. Please remove Jolly New England from consideration as deserving special treatment, and vote for Greneda instead.

To quote Charles Barkley... "that's turrible."
Don't blame A.net for your country's laws preventing sweepstakes or your country's publications being unwilling to run advertisements with mini codes.
All minis are available to people from all lands via in game for many ectos. The odds of you actually winning a contest to get those items, even if you lived in a "favored country" were miniscule. People who have those minis now, have them because they bought them, not because they won them. You are in the same situation as everybody else. Ecto drop rate doesn't discriminate.

Also, I support Arduinna's idea of spreading them through the game. I don't use minipets at all, but it would be glorious to see the whining from people who bought them because they were expensive.

Whilst MagmaRed's comments are valid ... I live in Australia. And as far as I'm aware, there's been no magazine events in Australia. And some of us have absolutely zero artistic talent.
I'd love to eventually collect all the minis ... because I want all the minis (every one I collect I dedicate - no powertrading here). But as it is that will be an impossibility, no matter how long I play. Apart from anything else, even if I could get the money/etcos/armbands/other high-end items, no one will put up an undedicated Kanaxai up for sale.
So long as it's rare (very very very rare) I think every mini should be obtainable somewhere. Not doing so only encourages farming and powertrading.

well how are you gonna get your mini if not by farming... if they drop from z chest than you will have to farm for zkeys if they drop from end chest than go go farm elite area... no matter what you still have to farm to get them

well i reckon they should give people a chance to own or have a chance of winning one...bugger it if there worth 10k armbraces etc...do i care??? no...do anet care??? no.....take non insc weapons....people thought it was unfair with there prices...so NF came along and made it cheaper to acquire weapons....everyone should have the chance of a panda (i wasnt playing GW when this was released so because of that its just tough luck??)...sorry i dont buy that, i buy a game where i expect to have the same chance as everyone to obtain an item.
isildorbiafra
The giveaways your refering to are sponsored events; so unless you shell out some big bucks to anet or can find someone else who can like a british gaming magazine; there is no point in requesting such a thing. I suggest you enter a petition at some game related company in England and request them to sponsor an event. Since this has not happened i guess they are just to cheep to do so.
pumpkin pie
ArenaNet can sell mini pets in their online store, all new/or not, cannot be dedicated in Hall of Monument or transfer to other players, comes with a minipets storage
go go go ArenaNet. pretty sure lots of players would buy it.

Clearly the way to fix the injustice of having a lottery assign rare miniatures is to hold another lottery.
