Is it safe using commands for your Username, Password, etc.

Hi I was wandering... a lot of people use -password etc. for saving there login information. How safe is it doing this? I don't have no one ever using my PC and I keep my PC safe from viruses, trojans, etc. Thanks so much!

The reason why I want to know is i'm getting tired entering my password everytime I login.

@Braxton619 i say yes if it's your personal laptop or PC. on my laptop i use it. on my HTC (media pc) i don't because it's used by my family or when friends come over to play on it.

Yes. But do keep in mind, make sure that your eyes are the ONLY eyes that see your screen or that you are the only person that uses your computer. Also, if you are on a wireless network i'd check to make sure it is pass worded, people can still break onto your HDD and look at files, shortcuts too..even if you aren't sharing a single folder onto the network. One last thing, try to keep the commands in the Start -> Run command. If no one else uses your computer, this would be even harder to hack into from an open wireless connection, if the hacker broke into your HDD, because that information is in the registry which can't really be hacked from it's main file while windows is booted.

Assuming that no one else has access to the machine, it is no more and no less safe than typing them in each time. If your machine is compromised badly enough for a thief to obtain your data from the shortcuts, it's also compromised badly enough for him to keylog you; and vice versa.

As everyone else has states, it's completely safe unless it is a computer you share. If someone knows their way around enough they can simply right click your GW icon, goes to properties and checks the "target" area.


All-in-all, if you have a RL friend who also plays GW make sure that if you let him use your PC to log onto his/her account that you completely wipe off your "-password" command line beforehand.

If u have a prob trusting your family, that's a problem, lol. It's perfectly safe. I use it for...........5 accounts I believe. you can look at my thread, it tells you how to do it.

As many have said before me, it is safe as long as you are either the only person with access to the computer in question or you trust everyone that has access to the computer.

You could use a macro to type it for you.
