Let me start off by saying Im an idiot when it comes to computers. Please bear with me.
I bought this monitor

and this desktop.

I've plugged the monitor in to the desktop using the dvi cable provided. One end of it is attached to the monitor and the other end is plugged into the computer. When I turn on the monitor, I get a No dvi signal message. I tried hooking it up with the Vga cable and I got no vga detected. I dont have an hdmi cable laying around so i havent tried that yet. I can't keep but wondering if I should be plugging something into the graphics card on the back of the computer. (It has three slots.) Nothing that came with the desktop or monitor will fit into the holes on the graphics card.
Am I hooking this thing up wrong or this there is some other problem?

Hmm, interesting.
The video card that came with the computer should have a DVI connector on it.
The picture shows a DVI cable coming with the monitor.
EDIT: Actually I found the pictures and I can see the back of the computer. From the pictures it looks like there is indeed a non-functioning DVI connector on the back panel, which would be used for on-board video.
There also appears to be 2 red DVI connectors on the video card. Plug the monitor's DVI cable into either of the red connectors on the video card.

I reach the same conclusion upon study of the pics.
