pet levelling in/before Zaishen Menagerie?

is there an advantage over leveling a charmed pet to level 20 and then putting it in the menagerie over putting it into the menagerie at level 5 and then level from there?

It needs to be atleast level 12 before you can spawn it with the trainer, otherwise it just unlocks a level 5 that roams around the menagerie which makes it alittle harder to death level it.

I put in a lvl 20 Dire Jingle Moa and after when I spoke to the NPC that allows you to take a pet out, I had every other evolution available like elder etc. From what I read on Wiki this also happens if you put in a lvl 20 hearty pet. But not if you put in any other like elder etc.

leveling in menagerie is faster...leveling outside is slower
giving a lvl 20 pet leveled in menageri to the tamer...gives you nothing. giving a lvl 20 pet leveled outside gives you 100g.

My opinion...that 100g is nothing...jsut level them in menagerie

How is leveling them in the menagerie faster?

I've been filling up the place while farming some wintersday crap and it is taking me about 8 {haven't been counting too closely} raptor runs to have an evolved pet to take back there.

If you can level pets faster then that inside without paying the NPCs to do it I'd love to hear how.

Get within the aggro radius of the target pet roaming the Menagerie. Hit charm to aggro it (it won't attack) and then cancel. Sac out and throw on low hp gear to get yourself to 1hp and put on a vampiric weapon. Bring 2x monk heroes set to flee using either Renew Life or Restore Life. Take either Vengeance or Resurrection Chant and disable it on just one of the monks. Let yourself res and sac out until the pet is lv20, then have the monk use Vengeance/Res Chant and quickly swap weapons. Charm, turn in, done.

And this will level a pet from 5 to 20 in under 10 minutes?

Also if there are more pets of the same type kill all but one. you will level up one pet, not 3 or 4 so will get more xp.

and for hereos i used 2 mesmers with 16 fast casting, 40/40 resto sets and flesh of my flesh for resurrecting.

And PvP char for free equippment.

Dont know if is faster than raptor farm, but at least you can do it being afk.

It's closer to 30 but like Sharkinu says you can just walk away while it works and that's the real benefit here, convenience.

For basically the fastest way to level a pet in the menagerie, do the following:

Take 2 Me/Mo heroes with full atts in fast casting, ether signet, ressurection and restore life. Throw on UA on one of them, rebirth on the other. Also bring a monk hero with succor, a healing signet and Bip.

1) agrro the desired animal by wanding/atacking once. Make sure you've killed off all other occurances of the same animal so that only one receives all the XP.

2) Put on your 55 gear and sac out til you die.

3) Put succor on the mesmers, make sure everyone is set to avoid combat. Flag the heroes near your corpse, sit back and let them do the work. If the pet should stray from the aggro bubble, flag the heroes near it and rebirth yourself to their location. Total time for leveling should be 20 or so minutes using this method.

4) When the pet is leveled fully, use UA to rez yourself, then charm the pet. Show it to the pet trainer. This will unlock all evolutions of the desired pet, so you can drop it and comeback for the evolution you want.

Note: If you want to do this with more than one pet without leaving the menagerie, you can by swapping out an armor piece and the repeating the process. It's easiest if the human character is a N/R or R/N so you can bring a sac spell and charm animal, but a vampiric weapon will suffice just as well. Good hunting.
