what ever happened to anets promise of every 4 months of releasing new content? like the last thing i remeber is that stupid storage update, like talk about being almost a year over due

This is a stupid thing to complain about. Anet introduced a new boss, Dhuum, into the UW along with 2 new minipets and a scythe. True I have not and probably will never even get to FIGHT Dhuum, let alone get one of the new rare items. But they did implement something.
Instead you should be QQ'ing about how we're 3 months since the last skill update, even though they said it would be every 2 months, but we won't even get the skill update till January (4 months later).
EDIT:
Steps, I believe the OP is referring to the Live Team's decision to stop doing skill updates AND game addons every month, instead extending it to 1 every quarter. Regina went on a whole run-around explanation on how it was either every quarter or every 3-4 months and not the other. In the end I forget which side she was trying to prove, but it was really just giving them more time to add content updates.

Somewhere between Faction and Nightfal, they droped the campaign schedule when they realized they couldn't keep up with making new classes/skill for an ever-increasing numbre of classes/armor for and ever-inc.../increasingly big starter areas. And proably a couple more things along the way.
From there came GWEN and GW2 and everythign else that has happenned in the last 2 years. (3? How long has it been)

i think the new update should add animals in towns and they can attack you and eachother but you cant fight back
The build master

All I'm saying is that ANet surely don't care about GW based on their track record recently. That is to say, if they DO care, it's simply that they're horrible. So not caring seems....nicer.

Well to be fair, they weren't exactly sitting around either:
1) Implemented Codex Arena
2) Updated the PvE henchmens' skill bars
3) Implemented "new" PvP henchmen
4) Added Dhuum quest chain to UW
5) Added shiny new wintersday costumes, for a price
So... if you add all of that together, you could say that it's equivalent to a content update, at least in my view. Still, while I acknowledge that they DID try, the results are... debatable, I guess.

Well, updating the Henchman bars doesn't really count as an update. That's more of a "fix what's broken" deal. I think it's rather there job to do such updates, just like skill balancing.
The costumes also don't really count, as you have to pay for them. (Not going to say the word, due to massive overusage over the past few months)
They definatly didn't do nothing, but they're far from what was promised. Both for skill updates as CONTENT update.
The Codex Arena is the only PvP-love they showed, and they did an amazing job. Tough alot of people don't like, I think it's simply too little too late. I enjoy codex, and I can name you more than enough people who enjoy it too, but there simply isn't enough people willing to play, and learn, a new format, hence the inactivity.

Yeah, they actually changed some things. Not much of a content, they added a boss, balanced the skillbars, Codex Arena instead of the useless PvP modes nobody actually liked, and some things to buy at their shop.
Still, they haven't released and won't release the December update, so that's a huge minus.

clearly, this is Anet's crowning achievement in fail. They really outdid themselves on this promise, with the spectacular fail that ensued.
There's really nothing to say -- they failed, they won't own up to it, CR can't spin any kind of perverted logic to explain it any more. Fail pure and simple.

Pretty much the same can be said for the 2-month skill-balance cycles (which is already at 4 months now).
Or with them being more open on what they are doing to share with the community what they are busy with... of which Lindsey is barely saying anything anymore, but I guess Regina told her to STFU, since she is CR.
Anyway, you get the point - they are busy and cannot tell us everything, plus they did do at least some things in the last few months (UW, Dhuum, Halloween, Test Krewe, Henchmen, etc.) which we can be grateful for, I guess.
Axeman002
its there company not ours...if they wanna give us content every 2 years...they can...if it was my game i would have taken my 40 million and sat on a beach with bikini babes waiting on my every need...not browsing guru at all these 'QQ we wantz moar nao'' threads.
just the dhumm update alone was worth it imo...the rest are just added bonus's

The small content updates are fine - Menagerie, Zaishen Quests (with them the extra Equipment Slots via Packs, buyable Storage slots), Dhuum, Nicholas, Costumes, all of them are really awesome. I was surprised with the addition of Dhuum, it was surely more than I hoped for.
What are people expecting? Something like Sorrow's Furnace update? Not gonna happen, really...
I think ANet is doing fine, people just need to set their expectations right...
Although I feel a bit bad for the PvP crowd. But being minority always sucks, that's life.

Back in January we talked a bit about our hopes for the year. Now, eight months later, I want to let you know how it's going so far. The Anniversary Update was a huge success, but it was clear to us that we had bitten off more than we could chew. Once the update went Live, we stepped back a bit to regroup, assess our process, and seek another designer. This took some time away from development, but it was important, and we learned a lot from the experience. Here’s the biggest takeaway: we just don't have the manpower to produce maintenance builds, skill balance updates, festival builds, and large content updates all at the same time. That was a pretty big revelation for us. It meant some big changes were needed. We started working on streamlining our update process with the hope that extra work now meant less work later. We began working on automating the base functionality of holiday festivals, weekend events, the monthly tonic changeover, and the monthly tournament map rotation. All of these things have previously been done manually every time and required rigorous testing to make sure no numbers were off and no files were missing. You’d be surprised at how much work each festival needs every time it runs even when we aren't adding new content to it. Automating these systems will free up time for other projects, reduce the number of maintenance builds, remove the need to do a build to start holiday festivals, and simplify the upkeep of GW for its caretakers. It's an exciting project for us because of the effect it will have on our day-to-day work. Maintenance and Content Updates – new process, new schedule We’re going to slow things down by switching to a longer development cycle for each skill balance. We'll be shooting for a skill balance every other month instead of every month. Skill balance updates take a surprising amount of development time, but because much of this is necessary to the process, simply cutting back on how much time we devote to them isn't a good option. It takes a lot of research to properly craft a skill balance update. A lot. We read the forums, read the wiki, review the meta, watch in observer mode, discuss skill balance with players, and most importantly, play the game ourselves. It could easily be someone's entire full-time job or the work of a whole team of dedicated balancers. Trying to do a skill balance every month, along with everything else, rushes the process more than we'd like, and it doesn’t give us enough time to truly polish each update before it goes Live. The switch to a bimonthly schedule allows us to maintain the quality of our work, and—this is important—it allows us to gather community feedback about the skill balance updates before they go Live. To do this, we’ll try to post the update notes/dev update for each skill balance about a month before the update actually goes Live and ask you for your feedback. The Test Krewe will be able to try out some of the changes discussed by the community in the testing environment and report their findings. This process will give the community the opportunity to give us feedback and identify problems before the final changes are made. We'll take your feedback, make adjustments where necessary, and release a revised set of update notes/dev update when the build goes Live. Our hope is that by taking some extra time to polish and get feedback from the community, our skill balances will be better tuned to smooth out any issues without creating new ones. At first, we thought that releasing larger yet more infrequent content updates would allow us to tackle the bigger projects that didn't seem possible on a faster-paced schedule. We’ve found that our schedule is still as fast paced as ever. That doesn't stop us from taking on bigger projects; we just aren't releasing the updates as quickly or as often. So we’re going to ease off that kind of schedule in favor of something a little more fluid. We will still prioritize our projects with a content update in mind, but they will be generally smaller in scope than the Anniversary Update, and we won't be afraid to do them in close succession should it be warranted. For instance, we would like to release a content update in the next month and a half, but we'd also like to add new content to Halloween and/or Wintersday. |

Ye, shame... they are only like 5 people working full-time on GW1 and then everything is still a bureaucracy, so things take time to get done, especially with finite time and resources.

Sounds like they are not hiring more man power, to save cost. Why do they need to save cost? Because users have been hammering them down for store purchases.
Considering the much larger amount of money games like Aion bring in compared to GW, you simply cant compare the resources allocated for Aion vs GW.
If you pay more, you should expect more, if you dont pay anything for the past 2+ years since the GWEN release in 2007, then you should lower your expectations.
