Can't capture Elite skill in Kourna with a Factions character?

Hey, I got Guild Wars (all games) a few weeks ago and I already got a few Elite skills but I have a problem now. (Sorry for my poor English).

My problem is:
I have a ranger I started in Factions, got access to Elona - Kourna and I am doing the Great escape quest (Arkjok ward) to get the Barrage skill from the boss at the end. I got my signet of capture at Senji's orner (Cantha). I have the signet in skill slot and no other Elite skills equipped. When the boss dies, it automatically gets "deselected" and I can't click on it anymore! I tried it 2 times already... Is this a glitch or what? I can't get this skill in Kourna with a Factions character? I know I can get it in Cantha too but it will take forever to reach Boreas Seabed, I got to Kourna a lot faster D:

Sorry, maybe a stupid question, but when you say "it gets deselected", do you mean the signet of capture or the boss? You shouldn't have any problems capturing that skill even if your char is from factions, just use the signet when the boss is dead, no need to target anything.

I can only think of 2 possibilities here:
Either you already have the elite skill , or you are not close enough to the location where the boss died.

You don't have to select the Boss, just stand next to it and use Signet of Capture.

I too would need some clarification of what you mean by "deselected". But, like the others have said, you shouldn't have any trouble capping the skill. Just make sure you are within agro range of the boss's corpse and click on the capture signet.

Btw, it's ok to have an elite skill in your skill bar when you capture. You will actually end up with 2 elites on your bar - until you zone.

This just sounds like you're not understanding skill capture properly.

As Yasmine said, the dead boss not being "selectable" is not an issue. Once he's dead, you just click on your Signet of Capture and it will pop up a window with a list of capturable skills - including good ol' Barrage.

Are you trying to capture it before or after you talk to Koss? Because the quest has to be active for you to be able to capture Barrage there. Try capping it as soon as you kill what's-his-name, before talking to Koss.

1...have correct primary/secondary proffession
2...make sure u dont have this elite
3...make sure boss isnt rezzed

I would have to agree with the above posts. You don't have to select the boss just use your signet of capture while near his dead body (aggro range). If there are multiple bosses in the area you will be prompted for which boss you want to select.

I'm thinking #1 - wrong secondary.

What is the right secondary for a Ranger who want's to capture Barrage?

Since the op says he already has a few Elites and is a ranger he already knows how to use a cap sig and is the correct class.

It sometimes happens where there is more than one boss dead in the same spot that you have to move around to find the right spot to stand.

I imagine its possible for the boss to get lost in the scenery but that would be a one off fluke and repeating the quest would solve that.

If its the elite thats deselected and it happened after returning from the quest that could be because you already have an elite on your skillbar.


Check your skill list and see if barrage is there, remember you can only use one elite at a time.
