unrated matches

i've always wondered why there isnt the possibility of having a random unranked match. it is very difficult to find guilds that are looking for unranked match, and the ability to set one of those up quickly can help that a lot...
is there a reason for this?

Hmm, I don't know but I too always thought that it would be better with the ability to have a random unrated match as an option, and still be able to set up organized unrated matches.

Already suggested this one before but once again, still support it.
Everyone wins with this option.
New/Inexperienced Guilds can get to practice until they are confident enough to take part in competition, and the ones already doing ranked matches will have the benefit of better opponents (instead of really long established groups steamrolling new additions)
The other important aspect is people don't get discouraged, they don't win anything, they don't lose anything, but they do gain experience and aren't put off taking part for fear of losing rank.
Everyone wins!

Yes, going around town asking if there is a guild in the same range as mine looking for some friendly unranked pvp seems like its not worth the effort. I would rather have the quick match option.

It's hard to find another guild that wants to do an unrated gvg...

I remember there was a topic recently about how uneven GvG's often are: This is most likely because smaller Guilds don't GvG much as they're afraid of losing what little rating they have, which paradoxically makes it very difficult for them to advance in the rankings since they'll have little experience of the maps and GvG specific tactics. Setting up an organized unrated GvG is an arduous task at times, particularly if you want to face a Guild of a similiar level to your own. This suggestion could only be a good thing in my opinion.

The only reason I can think of why Anet doesn't already do this - Is the hugely increased number of guild battles. This could be a huge strain on the servers if not handled expertly.

like the snowball fight ... most people just entered and didn´t care much about teams, it was mostly a fun thing ...
maybe a look at the 'Warsong Gulsh' (battleground) in WoW where most people just entered to fool around with random people ...
