Minipet Price Guide is Outdated

He brought up the issue and now you make a scapegoat out of him because he was bold enough to say the obvious (sometimes obvious isn't that obvious).

Considering the old one is now nonexistent (or moved somewhere else?) we are going to need a new one either way. It's hard to stay up to date on pricing when there are so many George Soros types out there trying to milk the ecto spike. That and a legion of bullshitters/dupers throwing out pump bids which, to Malice's credit, he tried to stop by verification.

First he says he wants to remake it because it isn't current enough, and then it becomes a "we" project. The old one had prices based off what was reported by sellers/buyers. If no one reports recent sales of the rarer pets how can you expect a "current" price listing for them? Some of these only actually get sold once in a blue moon. From what I remember the old one was updated within the last month and there were always the reports at the end of the thread that people could look at.

The problem is obvious. Stating it doesn't help matters. Solving it does.

You wonder why the Ventari mods get angry with the community? It's time consuming to produce a guide. Malice doesn't want to attempt it, and he doesn't have to. You're acting very entitled here.

Check back when you have a solution to the problem, or a better mechanism than the current one. The problem with pricing the really high end pets is that they rarely change hands, and all parties have an incentive to lie about the price when they do sell. The seller wants to be seen as a shrewd negotiatior, and the buyer wants to overstate the price to increase the resale value.

Uhm, what happened to the old thread in the price check forum? It would be good to have it back, even a bit outdated it's much better then nothing.

The idea of it is to supply a guideline price, not to say that is the price everyone should buy and sell at. Everyone is encouraged to do their own research into up-to-the minute prices.

Edit - The guide hasn't gone anywhere. I can only update based on the info that others provide. I then have to work out a happy medium between the supplied data. If no one provides data it doesn't work. Some mini's have no set price as such as they are too rare. Items like Panda/Kanaxi go for whatever the seller wishes (within reason)

Bday mini's only ever go down unless a guild decides they want to bump the price up.

All info provided in the guide can be found by browsing the sell forums. Only lazy people rely on the guide only.

I'm not sure why everyone is confused. The price guide IS there, and it is stickied.

As for keeping it updated, it is a mammoth task, and it's not going to be updated every time someone makes a new post in the thread saying what they bought/sold an item at. We do our best to make adjustments as we can, but as it has already been pointed out, it is just a guideline. You guys are encouraged to do your own research before buying/selling.

If anyone does feel like doing a thorough update on the price guide, feel free to send me a PM with suggested updates.
