D/E build

I wanted to start a new dervish, and my 1st inclination was to go D/E. I thought maybe combining grenths fingers + conjure frost (for example) might be a decent build. FYI all i have is prophecies + nightfall, so factions and EOtN stuff arent available to me.

just thought I would gather some thoughts before I put too much time into a build that might stink

I acctually used to use a build with avatar of grenth and conjure...It was fun to play around with not amazingly effective though...

You could get an Icy scythe modification and not have to use Grenth's Fingers all the time. That would be a lot better, since you wouldn't have to rely on that one skill for your secondary profession to be effective.

Grenths grasp+conjure ice would be nice, and so would a conjure lightning+shellshock+aura of holy might+electric scythe that too is anice combo and i tend to use that a bit.

Your idea might make for some nice snaring, but Aura of Holy Might (which will negate an elemental snathe) is a prerequisite to dishing out damage as a Dervish.

Edit: Whoops. Forgot AoHM is a Factions skill. Have fun. Also, a fiery snathe and Conjure Flame + a friendly Fire Ele with Mark of Rodgort + a Paragon with "They're On Fire!" makes a surprisingly effective combo.
