Use runline commands (windows key + r)

I don't have Win7, but Vista is similar.
Open the shortcut again (right-click, properties) and click on the "Open File Location" button. This should open an explorer window with gw.exe (and other files) in it. Right click on gw.exe and select "Send To" and then "Desktop (create Shortcut)". This should put an editable shortcut on your desktop, hopefully.

Won't work in this case...(just double checked it myself)(still running the RC though so might have been changed before release)...if you go into your program files and make a direct shortcut from that rather then from the shortcut in your Games folder it will work...no clue why just the way it happens...

Nope sorry I am not helpful at all...
The picture he posted says that it's directing to the game folder. Hitting the open file location rather then bringing up the program files instead brings up the games folder with Guild Wars highlighted...(maybe this is what you intended and maybe somethings weird about the RC)... But anyways in the games folder there isn't a send to option sadly (again unless somethings missing in my version or I'm just blind). And even if it had it would most likely come up with the same properties box because it will still be directing it towards the games folder rather then the actual program files and thus would most likely still be un-editable.
Sorry about the late reply I had to run to the store...

Can I just add that, as a general rule, NEVER let Vista/W7 install games to \Program Files (or \Program Files (x86)). There are times when you need to alter properties and generally mess around with game content and recent Windows versions are VERY protective of anything in those folders. Just make a games directory and install everything in there.

P.s. All my games are in D:\Program Files - which accomplishes what Snograt suggests.

I let win7ult 64x put games in Program Files/Program Files (x86) and have none of these problems. yes, I do have a games directory made solely for the use of GW multiple clients. I guess maybe some of you aren't running admin accounts..? or maybe you have UAC enabled..?

1) No one should be using an admin account. Hell, even people that know everything there possibly is to know don't run admin account all of the time. The reason there is a UAC is because people don't know this. Admin account are VERY powerful and should not be used by the average user at all, and should only be used to install programs and edit the OS and such for everyone else.
2) If you don't have UAC running you are just asking for trouble. It is there to minimalize complications for your wrong-doings, don't disable the thing that is going to save your butt.

UAC is good for the computer illiterate, but for the most part those on these forums should not have any need of it. Admin counts are a must if you want to be able to use your computer for anything more than the most basic of activities (ie what your Granny can do)
