Not sure if this is in the right section, as I'm new here...

So I got back into GW after about a year or so break. I've been playing for 4 years (off and on) and was wondering what's the "best" class to make if I'm creating a new character...

I've always had my W/Mo but never got into any good groups and couldn't farm worth ****. So if you have any ideas, just let me know. I was thinking of making a Monk but I'm not sure if 55 was nerfed or what...
Thanks in advance.

EDIT: For farming, end game content, etc.

Play what you want, not what others want.

Alright, easy there bud. I'm not going to make the same mistake by making a warrior which I have found is in no demand, especially not with the skills/builds available to me.

Time and time again...thread after thread.

Answer: There is no best class. Play what you ever you prefer (obtained by whatever means: testing, seeing it in action, etc..)

are u looking for best class for farming or best class for pug groups? technically, all the missions and stuff can be done with any class to the extent that any class can get god title. as long as the player is adept enough. and pug groups are fairly non-existent. as for farming, idk. other people can tell you. i mean, warriors are very good solo playing through missions and can be incorporated into traditional builds for most all elite areas.... my God char is a war so that's what i would suggest, but ur obviously looking for something else ;-)

There is no "best".

And there is no longer a "demand", since people can just take heroes instead.

Play what you want to, what is fun for you.

Ok well I worked on my Warrior for years and I'll admit I'm not the best at the game but I couldn't get into any groups... So I just don't want to work hard on a class and have it fail me again.

The only widely useful and wanted professions are monks and eles for heal with warriors, assassins, and necromancers for damage. Save yourself grief.

This should help a bit.

What I see each profession as is:

Warrior - Damage, "Save Yourselves!"
Ranger - Interrupts, Conditions
Monk - Healing, Farming
Necromancer - Minions, Hexes
Mesmer - Control, Manipulation
Elementalist - Damage, Support
Ritualist - Farming, Spirits
Assassin - Farming, Speed
Dervish - Scythe, Damage
Paragon - Shouts, Unkillable

So if YOU want to deal the damage, go with: Warrior, Assassin, Ritualist, Necromancer, or Dervish

If YOU want to support/heal, go with: Monk, Ritualist, Elementalist, Mesmer, Paragon

For a hybrid caster/physical, go with: Ritualist, Spirit's Strength; Mesmer, Illusionary Weaponary; or Assassin, Deadly Arts.

But when all is said and done, it's your profession, play what you want. I like speed and damage, so I picked Assassin; although, I do play some Spirit's Strength Ritualist on the side.

Hope this helps.

If you want to be a spellcaster, I would definitely suggest Necromancer. Soul Reaping is probably the best caster primary attribute for energy management.
