is there a general mesmer farming build which allows me to farm most areas ? e.g. a 600 SB monk or a 55 SS / SV Nec .

can't we take a SV Farming build and replace the nec primary with a mesmer primary ?

If you find energy a problem, then drop 1 in fast cast and put it in inspiration magic. replace arcane echo with channeling.
If you want to go against a large number of monsters then drop arcane echo and spirit bond for Shielding hands and SoA . make sure your health is roughly around 55 - 100. Shielding hands will heal the damage taken before SoA negates all damage .
Large number of monsters + Interupts + Degens = Prot Spirit, Spirit Bond, Echo, Mantra of Resolve, Ether Nightmare, Cry of Pain, Channeling, Essence bond
Echo spirit bond and spam spirit bond . If you want, you can also arcane echo echo . then spam 3 spirit bonds and let the degens from ether nightmare and cop kill the rest .
you might even be able to drop essence bond for arcane echo for triple spirit bond or dual cop if the mob is big enough for channeling to be able to keep up your energy requirements.
IMO, I don't even think any other solo professions other than an obby farmer or a SF farmer would be able to survive being attacked by so many monsters + degens (there for SoA and Shielding hands don't work).
Just make sure you don't get hit more than 10 times in a second (if you have 2 spirit bonds) . lol .
Against healer bosses, drop points from fast casting / protection and add them in domination line for backfire and VoR . VoR ensures that healers don't heal themselves as much as before and therefore allowing your degens to kill them .
Or you can use Signet of illusions and go terra farming . 330 hp is the limit .
Signet of Illusion, Stone Striker, Stone Flesh Aura, Mantra of Earth, Ether Nightmare, Cry of Pain, Silver Armour, Optional
An optional would be Ether Feast (For some healing in case you were to encounter degens ).
Also, Mantra of Earth and Stone Flesh Aura are options . Get Channeling and Mantra of Resolve and a spammable skill to allow channeling to help manage your energy problems .

You can't farm most areas with a 55 SS/SV. Not efficiently anyway.
You can make a 55 with a Mes if you want and farm a lot of stuff, you just can't take on big mobs. Search for Dopefish's Mesmer farming guide. I am too lazy to find the link right now. It gives the scoop on all the great farms for Mesmer.
PS - Epathy is a weaker version of SV for attackers. Doesn't work on casters. As I said, Dopefish has it laid out. Some other builds you can find on PVX wiki, but none of them are ranked very high. They are doable, just not very efficient.

Straight away i can make a suggestion for mesmer as the op said about 600 sb monk
Instead of using a monk as bonder use a sig of illusions bonder with you being the bonder and team up with another player who can be the 600 sb tank.
Yes a mes bonder can do the job just as well as a smite bonder as long as the tank is confident enough to do without the necro energy skills - which im sure most tanks can.
Ive been both mo/n and me/mo bonders and i prefer having me/mo bonders - no having to swap head pieces just to get 16/16.
If you have the campaigns you could also go as a mesmer spirit spammer.

I know there are 55hp builds that you can do with a Mesmer, I've seen people use them before. Similarly, I'm sure you could do a Mesmer tank for 600/smite. Also, earth-tanking ele builds can be run on a Mesmer quite well - I do that to farm raptors on occasion, myself.
Mesmers aren't really seen as farmers, but if it's a build that's normally done as /Me, try it out with Mesmer primary.

For 600 mes tank id probably say - standard 600 setup but for making it interesting use the err damn minds blank - the 2 skills cop and the other title skill that does degen ( help me out someone lol ).
As 600 tank dmg shudnt be an issue as all dmg is usually via the bonds.
55 mes ive only used before for farming hulks in hm outside ascalon when im bored tho again you could probably use the 2 skills i mentioned above .. i may try that myself lol.
If you have a wide base of mes skills you can always experiment and see what goes - who knows you may end up being the person who invents some decent mes farming builds.

i've 600 tanked MR and R routes at DSC, killed The Great Destroyer solo in HM, been one out of two players in a party (+6 heroes) that killed Mallyx, i'm able to farm raptors about 1:10-1:20 a run (if the ping allows), i had no problem to get ruby essences for nick lately, i used to farm some feathers, i've almost completed the third room at foundry using only two heroes, i run probably the fastest possible build to get the chest outside Boreal Station...
all with a primairy mesmer.
mesmers are underestimated, especially when PuGging, while they really have some potential for getting fun from the game. but that's not because they're as powerful as other classes. the game is so easy that you can complete most of it even a bit handicapped by your mesmer primairy. being able to sub into monk or rit, or sometimes another class, and using pve skills is usually enough to complete any task out there, be it tanking, running, nuking, spamming, farming, rushing or anything you wish.
still, you are handicapped by your primairy - you can do it, but another class can usually do it better/faster.
if you're looking for mesmer farm builds just for fun, use spiritmancer, 600/smite at some locations (Hidden City of Ahdasim is the best to start - quite easy, yields lots of dust and it's fun, especially with a mesmer smiting hero on SoI), 55 on either IW or degen, or a variant of stoneflesh aura build.
