Hello All,

I bought the original Guild Wars Prophecies back in 2006, and recently reinstalled it on my computer to play.
I just bought Factions today online for cheap. My question(s) are, what can I do with my Prophecies character in Factions? (She's only level 2 atm...so I am assuming I'd have a way to go before I could access any of the Factions content with her.)
Is each campaign like a new story or is it also related to the original? Can existing characters from other campaigns benefit as well? I know there are more skills to be unlocked with each new chapter, but I was wondering what else if anything.
I know these questions have probably been asked before but I will admit I was too lazy to search through the existing posts.

Thanks!

When you hit Lion's Arch, you can take a quest that lets her access Factions, and then you can play it through like any other character. You will have to do a backwards run to access Shing Jea Island and the missions therein, though.

I personally consider Factions a new story. NF... is somewhat related to both, but they can definitely stand on their own.

What do you mean by benefit? Any character you create in Prophecies is one of the core six, and as such can access just about anything you want in Factions except maybe starter island quests. Nightfall-only professions (Dervishes and Paragons) won't benefit as much from Factions, since there aren't armour sets for them nor are there any skills available for them to capture there; the same applies to Factions-only professions (Ritualist & Assassin) if you run them to Prophecies. But you can complete the storyline and get the end-of-game rewards and the titles, same as any other character can. All you have to do is get to the respective port towns (Lion's Arch for Tyria, Kaineng City for Cantha, and Consulate Docks, which is linked to the main town of Kamadan, for Elona.) And of course, buying Factions opens up the Ritualist and Assassin, which means your Prophecies characters now have the option to go /Rt or /A and use skills from those professions, too.

EDIT: Re armour sets - if you do get Nightfall, it's worth noting that Ritualists and Assassins cannot access certain armour sets in Nightfall.

Also, welcome back and have fun! (:

Hey there!

Lesee... Once you get to the port city in Prophecies, The one where the "travel" boat appears on the map travel, you can take a quest there that will quickly take you to Factions. You can then access Factions aytime by clicking on the travel boat.

Factions has mostly different stuff, but if you play through Prophecies far enough, you should recognize a character throughout the campaign. Otherwise it's totally different, storyline, monster, profession wise. But you will later on be able to earn Kurzick or Luxon faction which can be traded in for stuff like skills or rare crafting materials.

Oh, btw, since you're in proph at level 2 ....
Enjoy the beauty and take a few screenies while you're there

*Edit*

Aww, poop. Beaten. =P

Each campaign is a free standing story. However, at a certain pint in each story there is the option for a character from one campaign to travel over to another, and pick up that story part way through, taking the story through to the end if they so wish

So your Prophs character will, once you've played through a bit further, reach an outpost called Lions Arch, and be able to travel to Kaineng Center in Factions. Conversly, a character started in Factions will be able to visit Lions Arch once they reach Kaineng Center in their own story arch.

The 2 stories are free standing. And the contents of one story does not infuence the progression of the other.

Some skills are only available in a particular campaign, but a character who can reach the relevent skill trainers can use learned skills where-ever. Factions also has title related skills, the strength of which is directly related to your progression in certain Factions only titles. Weapons can be carried across campaign.

Factions also gives you access to 2 additional professions, available as primary professions for Factions born characters, or as an option for secondary proffesion for anyone (prophs characters need to get to where they can swap secondaries at a certain point story-wise to be able to access these)
