Monitor Resolution Problems D';

Excuse me if the resolutions I typed are not correct, whatever is closest to them I guess is what I'm trying to talk about...

Recently I bought a 26'' Plasma/LCD whatever TV, which I used as a monitor. It was amazing on 1360x768 (I believe) resolution, then...I updated to W7 (from XP), and poof, the screen can't handle that resolution and was now default set to 1024x768 (on W7), which really bothers me (the huge interface, eww)...So I was messing around with the resolution and I had set it to 1280x768 which was the highest it could manage, and of course I got the "keep these setting?" Clicked yes, later that day I shut my computer off. The next day it starts up, and it always did this funky "goes thru all resolutions" as the start-up occurs, the resolution starts off at 800x600 and goes up to 1024x768 when the w7 glowing light turns into the windows symbol, then it switches to the resolution it was set on, and the screen turns black - this is what happened when I tried to load resolutions the screen "couldnt handle", this is how I know it couldnt be set to 1360x768

SO I can't use the TV as my moniter now, every time I try to start it up after the windows logo balls of light finish loading, the screen turns black... and I am stuck on a 15'' crap lcd =(

My question is, how can I reset the resolution for the TV and why couldn't I get the 1380x768 like with XP?

-Set resolution on 15''
-I have updated all my drivers
-IDK what safemode is for but I gave it a try...Which did nothing..

If it were me I'd try booting into low resolution mode and try adjusting resolution to desired settings. then save/apply/reboot and see what happens.

also, if my reading/digging is correct, the driver you are using is -old-
hit up the nvidia site for newer drivers. with that said, it's time for me to update drivers and play Dirt 2 in SLI.

Ok I'll the driver tomorrow when Im on my pc, but how do I boot in "low res" mode?

Hit F8 when puter is posting. after post you will have a list of options. "enable low resolution video" should be one of them.

For those reading, with an SLI rig, you might want to wait to update to the new drivers [if you use precision] something is fubar'ed up.

Since it worked on XP, both the TV and the video card must be "capable" of running the 1366x768 rez. The only thing left is either some setting in windows 7 (perhaps to do with widescreen) or a driver problem. Did you update to the latest Win7 driver? You could try installing the Vista version.

Make sure that your refresh rate is set to 60Hz, btw.

but it seems to be a problem with the particular build of Win7 - I would assume that a patch is in the works.

This worked, my resolution is now 1600x900, but it is only on Hz 60 (thats the refresh rate correct?) anything above 60 the monitor won't load and I get this bad english blue screen with "Not Support!" bouncing around.

Don't worry - 60Hz is the standard refresh rate for most digital displays. Only on old-style CRT displays could you have refresh rates of 75Hz and above. It's not a failing - it's just not necessary with a digital display.
