What is your most fun profession ?
Lusciious
Well here's the thing . i want to make a new character but i can't decide on a character . i have tried all 10 professions . and i like most of them . what do you like the most ?
my definition of fun = some capabilities of solo farming, at least to be wanted in high end pve, good at general pve and pvp .
What do you think ?
edit: i get very bored very easily so yeah ..

Well I get a hoot out of rangering but since you said wanted in PvE, then you basically have to play Splinter/GDW Barrage.
Rangers also can't farm worth shit compared to other classes.
But they are awesome in PvP. Never forget that.
Cuilan
All professions can apparently 600 and for the most part spirit spam for farming.
Mesmer would be my choice, but ranger can be fun. Most players stick to PvX-like builds which are fairly boring imo. Both are good for PvP but you value what is wanted.

You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.
By that definition, Mo would be it.
Unfortunately, it's the class that the fewest people can competently use for it's intended purpose.

Warrior could be good depending on how much solo farming you wanted to do (also, do SC's matter to you?)
Can't you just decide on what you want to play? I don't see how what we like is going to help you.

the purpose of this thread is to see why you guys like certain professions over others .
IMO, male monks look really weird ><
Out of the 10 professions, I have reduced to it warriors, mes and lastly rangers.
Why not these other classes then ? Here's the thing . I'm a guy . I don't wanna make female characters because i've experienced stuffs on a female character i don't want to experience again -.-
Monks - It just isn't my style to monk. Although i like being the class that buffs people in other games . Also male monks are not nice .
Eles - Turtle necks are ugly >.> no offence to anyone out there .
Necs - Could easily be one of the fun-est class to play in PvE because of unlimited energy but idk why i don't like it .
Assassins - have one already
Rits - mainly for farming . it cannot run to make it a running class . neither can it pvp as well to make frequently used unlike warriors / rangers / mesmers etc .
Paragons - Males wearing skirts although their face looks really good . Can't farm . Sorry .
Dervs - Nice face , nice scythe , beast at running . good at farming . versatile (fun) enough for PvE and PvP . but because they wear skirts ..................
I prioritize looks almost above everything else .

I'm leaning nearer to mesmers or rangers simply because mesmer has Signet of Illusion and illusion weaponry which is very very fun and rangers have 3 pips of regen in other words, they can be physicals (thumpers) or healer hybrid to an extend (monks maintaining holy veil have 3 pips of regen as well). I love my warrior (he's my first character to get LS) . Chaining AoE KD or Spamming SY is very good in PvE but i do get bored easily ..

Necro. Soul Reaping for the win. Being a Necro means never being low on energy.

I prioritize looks almost above everything else . no. since i'm just a casual player . i just want to be able to do elite areas with groups and help out around . besides, theres no point earning so much money now . you can't bring money over to GW2 anyway . I don't know why playing a male/female, wearing skirts matters. If a guy hits on you then just ignore him - it's called the ignore list. Also I rather stare at a woman's backside than a man's backside all day. But that's your choice.
As for skirts, you are limiting two classes out for skirts? Dervs may not be great in PvE, but the Imbagon is. What you lose in solo farming you make up in teams in Slavers ect.
BTW if you are a ranger or a mes, people are not going to want you in high end PvE unless in certain circumstances.
Bob Slydell
In GW for me:
Warrior > Mesmer > Necromancer
Warrior > Mesmer > Necromancer
Prayash
I was on the same boat as you. I got bored of all classes, but since you love the looks, Ranger, IMO, looks the coolest. Rangers are pretty fun, rupting skills, and dealing pretty good damage at such a distance. Also, Rangers rock at PvP.
SithLord2064
I'm torn between 2 classes. I LOVE my ele, especially when I use Red Rock Candy and either an Essence of Celerity or Pumpkin pie. Insta-casting rules.
I also love my ritualist. Spirit Spamming is SOOOO fun and makes the game CAKE. I love the rit armors more than the ele armors, but....I really can't choose

Lol "So which class is the most fun" "Ew no I can't play that class they wear skirts"
Psh.
But to answer your question I played an NF ranger, mighty fun and very versatile.
Then again, they probably don't have the virtual muscles/chest hair/beard size/large endowment necessary to make you feel comfortable playing the character.

Dervish is fun. Don't whine about the skirts, it only means their balls are too big to fit in trousers.

yeah it's either warriors, rangers or mesmers for me .
gonna try make them again and see which one i like .

Warriors are the way to go if you wanna have fun!
Zebideedee
Necro, practically unlimited energy to play with and sexy armours (FoW armour being the exception). Once I get GWAMM on my Necro I'll probably try one of the farmier professions
Windf0rce
lol @ OP being worried about playing girl chars. Just don't worry, make anything you want without trying to predict how others react to it. You know what?
My most fun character, by a mile, is a MALE Monk using PINK FoW armor with PINK Chaos Gloves and a Blindfold (purple). And I love monking, even in PUGs. And then, I don't care that:
- Many people find male Monks ugly - I find them hot and can't stand mini fem monks;
- Many people find FoW and Chaos Gloves lame - I think it looks leet, lol;
- Many people dislike monking or simply cannot bother to truly learn it;
- I get hit on by several gay guys who look at my character and find him sexy or just get curious if I am gay too because of my armor/weapons color, I find it funny, just thank any compliments and move on. What's the big deal?
I cared about any of the above I surely wouldn't be as far as I am with this character now; so just please yourself and try not to let anyone dictate your style.
If you are looking for a perfect character, sorry to burst your bubbles but there is none - I can point flaws on every professsion, be it skill or looks based.

another reason why i don't like monks is because i lag every now and then . lag = cannot monk ><
thank you for this sir . i have decided on my profession . necs
i used to love pvp a lot but because i have to start studying more now, i can't play GW as hardcore-ly as i used to . so i decided to quit pvp because you can't get far in pvp if you're just a casual player ( do you expect to be in the number 1 gvg guild ? no . ) so my character has to be one of the higher tier professions for pve .
apparently necs are nearly the top if not the top profession for pve . abusing soul reaping is just so good ... followed by probably an imbagon however paragons can't farm as well as necs can . and necs get to decide who to kill first by calling out the target with MoP / Barbs xD
Thanks for all your opinion guys
I've decided to go with a nec . If rangers were made more fantasy like e.g. with rain of arrows ? lol, i would have chosen a ranger .
I think casters are more versatile than physicals due to number of pips of energy regen . I want to try a build that i've made up on my nec .
Weaken Armour, AP, Death's charge, Ymlad!, Falling lotus strike, Death's blossom, FM!, By Ural's Hammer.
Can't wait to try that

I have a necromancer, the thing I noticed about necromancers is that generally you don't hit for much damage but your hexes and curses do a lot of the work for you. I don't think combining a Necromancer with a Mesmer was a grand idea, but i'm not doing too bad.
MisterB
I think you should utilize your multiple character slots to try out different professions in order to play the roles you want. I like Warrior, and I play that the most.
Dervishes wear robes, not skirts. Males have worn robes for thousands of years and continue to do so in many parts of the world. Try walking around in the desert in jeans for an hour or so. Now male paragons definitely wear skirts, but so did soldiers in the Roman legion.
edit: I guess you could classify Dervish armor either way, or both.
