Festival Hats!!
Thenameless Wonder
I know this sorta takes away from guild-wars loyalty that you have been a player since the beginning....
I propose we have some event/quest/anything in-game that allows you to get festival hats from previous years.
It doesn't have to be the same skin or model perhaps, like the santa hat (which i really want to get.....). It could be a slightly different model so the original hat holders still feel special that they have been playing for a while, while people who werent able to get the hat can get the hat.
If time to implement this weren't an issue, what would you say?

Slightly different, you say?
Like how the pumpkin crown turned into the angry pumpkin crown, the yule cap turned into the stylish yule cap, the horns of grenth turned into the great horns of grenth, etc?
Already been done. You just had to be there.

"It could be a slightly different model "
Even a 'slightly' different model would require someone to design and implement this to the game. It isn't a quick fix that you assume. It may not be as long as a completely new hat, but it is still work. I wouldn't mind getting some of the hats I missed, but to keep things 'equal' I would expect them to sell them instead of give them.

i don't see how making a new model gives you the old one... then everyone will just have to have these new hats as well

Though, I'll be the first to tell you that I'd love to get the original Yule Cap, sadly I don't think it's possible. (Would have had it if issues hadn't come up. )

I don't see a problem with making old hats available.
But it probably won't be done. *looks back at updates* Yeah, wishful thinking.

Eragon Zarroc
so u want the older hats, but hats that technically aren't the older hats?
End
I think the OP means they like the concepts...but knows that some people use the hats as a way of showing how long they've played and such....and thought about introducing them designed slightly different would still allow those players the exclusivity they like...while allowing others to have hats of a similar concept
Thenameless Wonder
Ya. Like ^ that
Like I really want to get the yule hat and pumpkin hat because I wasn't playing guild wars in 05' but I still want people who were playing them to feel "important" so to speak because they were guild wars players in the beginning. Bringing back the same festival hats has the same effect if when one person had chaos gloves and then everyone got them. It loses "value", sentimental value, so to speak, of the players who actually got their hat fair and square.
Hope it helps -.-

Well, I prefer exclusivity over time that absolute exclusivity, so once enough time has passed, anything should be available to everyone.
All that would be left is deciding how much time.
For collector edition in-game content, I would say 5 years.
For festival hats, I would go with 3 years.
For preorder key stuff, I would go with 1 year.
And for playable content like the BMP, 3..6 months.
Then, acquiring the items would be the tricky part. The simplest choice would be purchasing keys in the GW shop.
Hey, you have the right to the stuff, but just getting it free when others had to spend time or cash to get it wold be a bit wrong.

~~ Ok, 5 years + $100 and Aura is yours. Hey it saves you $75-$100 + depending on where you find a 2005 CE.

Okay one thing i'd like to have is a way to get the old hats by the account creation dates. as for myself have been around this since the 1st event on Halloween. got the hats all the way up and through until now. but the earlier ones before the storage got bigger and the hat guy i deleted them, yeah shame on me. But i know im not the only one out there that has done this because of room.
