why did the op complain about waiting for kurz players to make teams? the waiting isn't lack of the hostile faction's teams(believe me its the same on the kurzick side) could it be a limit on the number of games going on at the same time or something?

...off the top of my head, these are the reasons this game is dead:
1. Age 2. Failed promises 3. updates that get delayed forever and ever 4. game imbalance 5. poor implementation of good ideas 6. removal of game modes to cater for other failed game modes 7. security scares 8. <insert other anet failures> can't really be bothered to really list out all the reasons, but that is a shortlist. Have fun and smile dude, smile. You scary. |

During the few times where you get to play on Kaanai on Kurz, there's practically no wait time.

Veterans?
There game doesn't have 10 years yet. There are no veterans.
Veterans... young people these days... peh.
The only things that keep me from playing as often as I did some time ago are:
- Lack of new content.
- Lack of retroactivity (pushing all the new stuff in the new content, and forgetting about the old campaigns)
- Too many assassins with obsidian armor, chaos gloves and mo zing masks asking for more like them to join parties, and nothing else.
Once they fix those, I'll surely play as much as I did.

Hey guis I foundout why the game feels empty. There's alot of people but for some reason I get the feeling there is nobody behind the computer

The reason the bots exsist is due to the lack of game masters/dungeon masters or what ever name you choose to use.
Everything in the game is automated. The dishonor system is weak and can be used to punish players who report bots or leechers. Even when you report them nothing ever happens. At worse they get banned for a few minutes.
The automation is to keep overhead down as I'm sure they don't want to pay anyone to check this stuff out.
Why do they have bots? I would think to farm titles and game gold. There are many people in the game who purchase game gold and also want the titles. Many of the titles encourage farming. Take the Zkey title for example. What good is a Zkey title when you can purchase keys. In no way does it reflect ones PvP experience or skill. Most people who want the Zkey title want it for one reason only. The emote.
I think a win/loss title would be more effective. A display showing how many times you won and loss. When you enter RA you should have a win/loss info box. The same for GvG/HA etc.. Bots in PvP are nortorious for losing. If they wanted to reduce bots eliminate most of the useless and meanless titles and everyone who buys game gold should stop. These two steps alone would greatly reduce game bots. If you're on here complaining about bots and you buy game gold, you're the number one reason they exsist. I would not be surprised if some of the ANet employees run some of the game gold web sites. Not saying they do, I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised if they did.
As the game exist now, they should have 2vs2 and 6vs6 PvP maps added to the game with the 4vs4 and 8vs8 that already exsist. and have championships in each category. This would afford almost everyone a much better chance of participating in PvP.
Changing the skills every so often is not the answer. implementing these thing I have mentioned would greatly increase everyones happiness levels in the long run.
Do I think they will do it? NO
They have a new Guild Wars coming out soon. They can deal with it then. Why waste time on making this game top notch again.

It took me 45 minutes to create a 4 man split that included healing/damage/anti melee/anti caster. It took another 30 minutes to 45 minutes to get some friends together and run the build. It then took 3 hours per match to start after we were finished wiping the floor with whoever we faced.
If you think in a 4 vs 4 that you creating a build and throwing down scissors prevents you from getting your ass kicked by rock, your bad. Anyone who does play Codex knows you have to consider all facets available at the time you make your build, and what is available to other people as well. Codex isn't random arenas, dont treat it that way, you can pick your teammates.
Lengthy response, my bad we can't all be satisfed at being mediocre, even on videogames where the potential is only limited by imagination, or in this case, lack of other people playing a 'Massive Multiplayer Online Game'.
Edit: Before you rage back, I will apologize ahead of time. I do realize that thinking requires brain activity, and after reading your recent posts about how PvE gives satisfying rewards, when in fact you can /wiki everything in Guild Wars PvE, and there is no actual way to farm something that will upgrade your level/gear above someone else, so in no material/virtual item way can PvE in this game EVER be considered rewarding, I am inclined to think you are lacking in that area.

I think that ArenaNet was very business savvy when they introduced the PvE only skills in EOTN along with the very large amount of titles that are attached to that expansion. I don't know if they realized what it would do to the game though. Either that or they really didnt care because they were just making money for GW2 which they thought would be out a lot sooner than it is actually shipping.

I've never been able to understand why people who don't like GW are still active in the forums. The-Bigz original post seemed like a genuine question. The vast majority of the responses seem to boil down to "Anet sucks and so does GW". If you don't like it, leave. Once you've left, leave the forums too.
My guild is active. The player base from my perspective is strong and there is a lot to do. If you don't find the same then it may be time to change guilds. The one thing you have complete control over is how you approach the game. If it isn't working for you, change what you do. I grew bored of GW about a year ago and shelved it for a few months. For me that worked and I returned happier than ever. If it has grown stale for you, either approach the game a different way or put it aside for a while. When all is said and done the game is there for your entertainment. If you don't enjoy it, walk away. For me who I play the GW with is far more important than the actual game. Maybe you just need to hang out with a different bunch. For all of those people who whinge and moan about GW, state how you would like the game to be rather than what you don't like about it. You want updates? What exactly? What is it you're looking for? If you don't have at least one possible solution to a problem then it isn't really a problem, it's just a whine. |
I think Oleg and I have a vulcan Mind meld. This is exactly what I think.
I recently tried to play Everquest because of all the add ons they have and it's a quest based game (or so they say) and quests are my thing. Wow, could they make the characters any uglier? If I'm going to play a character for hours on end, at least give me something attractive to look at, or give me the option of making it attractive. Anyway, sorry for the side rant, after playing Everquest, it makes me realized that Anet may have got some things wrong, but they got most of it right. GW has ruined me to anything else. Everquest? Deinstall.

Edit: I would also like to note, after reading what some of the community has to say here - Most of the skill updates and etc are being made for PvE and GvG. This leaves little room for the veteran player that doesn't feel like stressing over the game or a new player trying out aspects of the game and learning about it.

Anyway, skill balances are necessary in a game like guild wars. The sheer amount of skill combinations means that the devs can't test every esoteric build out there before they add or change a skill.
And some exploits only become evident over time. Fixing these things aren't done for the sole purpose of annoying you personally. It's done to make the game more fair for everyone.
To level the playing ground if you will. You claim to like PvP, yet you are complaining about the removal of unfair advantages. Isn't that a bit... Shortsighted.
So, you didn't like a skill change. Well, guess what, neither did anyone else, but instead of complaining about it, why not try to find out a way to use that change for your own benefit? Has it ever occured to you that if you always use the same skill bar and never try something new then you'll be a very predictable opponent...
Experiment. Find new ways to use skills that aren't considered powerful or good.
Who knows. The next "way" flavour of the week build might have your name on it.
Or not... But for every nerf there's usually a buff somewhere to make up for it.

Let me rephrase that for your royal 2005 buying ass: I, and my guild of 43 other players, are getting retardedly bored with these even more simple ass builds being created. Every couple months the metagame shifts to 'run this or gtfo n00b'. I want to run a build, not load one. Me and my guild of 43 other players, who have had this game since 2007 or earlier, feel like the game has been massively degraded into shit, especially in PvP. And the first update in 6 months? BASED on PvE and Erf Shakur/Tactics were just thrown in there for the HA/GvG crowd.
Feel better?

Anyway, my point still stands. If you are bored with the "simple builds being created" then make your own. If you have 43 guild mates then why do you care about what other people think you should play? Use a guild team.

I must agree.. I been playing this game since it came out. Mainly got bored with it, but it is always the same grind, no new material and the nerfs to SUPER builds came way too late. Since I liked GW so much I decided to try another one of there games which is AION. I must say I enjoy it very much and will continue to play it while I wait for GW2 to come out. GW has a nice run... just too boring now.

My /age sayed 58 months since today and all I can say what ruined they game was the addition of faction/NF and EoTN. Faction destroyed Prophics same with NF. While Prop was big awsome story more challenge with a decent balanced game play, and Faction and NF just crushed it with new skills, heroes and fast money making. And EoTN.... Come on PvE skills, Cons.... Dungeons were a nice update and new races such as asura oki cool. But it would have been more excited if faction would have been the next story such as pre to post was in prop. Once you go to faction lvl cap would rise more but you couldn't go back to prop anymore cus you finished it. To bad it was like this.

You know what I find funny, its all the people who said "I've quit the game" or "It's a dead game" or anything of the sort, no offense to GW Guru, is what are you doing coming here to make a one-liner about how the game is dead and you aren't playing it. OP I know your feeling. Find something new, there is a real world out there, you just have to approach it the same way you would a HA match in 05'. Head on.

AB was my favourite game in the whole of GWs. I no longer play AB because the game is stuck on one map only. The only reason i became luxon is because i enjoyed playing on Ent. Keys. The is THE only reason initially. Now i am stuck at nearly r11 and half the time can;t be bothered playing FA and detest JQ. ANet killed my beloved AB, there really is no fun left in AB.
RA syncers? Well, seriously what did you expect when they removed TA? All the TA teams would come to RA and continue to farm glads. I need 12 more points to get glad 1 and then seriously considering moving back to HA or onto GvG unless i push onto g3.
re: lux title. no. i am not going to speed clear my way to lux12. i think its cheating. to me r12 no longer shows how experienced a player is and i can no longer make judgements on who i should take in my group.

Hi, I've been playing since the Prophecies Beta Weekend Event(BWE) in 2005.
My advice: play Jade Quarry. It's the only fun form of "PvP" left in my opinion, even if it does boil down to killing or protecting NPCs.

I think the problem that is occurring between all the people that argue in the forum is experience. People who started playing during the start of prophecies have had a TOTALLY different experience than the people who started playing after Factions. What the vets consider utterly retarded, the newer people consider it to be completely normal because they don't know any better / haven't seen Guild Wars without those additions (Cons, PVE skills , Heroes).

What ruined this game is they let it turn into a solofest instead of a group oriented game. They should have never allowed such powerful solo builds which just decreased the number available for pugging. And I don't want to hear "we wouldn't have pugged anyway if they had of changed it" because I saw you all when Prophecies was new and first you were pugging like a maddog and pug groups were plentiful and easy to get into and going. Now pugging is rarer than solo play because of all the gimmick easy solo builds. I'm not saying eliminate the ability to solo I'm just saying don't make it so profitable above and beyond grouping.

do yourself a favor, purge this game from your hard drive and put in a security code that youll never remember and lock yourself from ever downloading or installing this game again.
they made their money. they could care less about what u want now. if i already sold you the car as is, and you came back to complain about the tranny, sorry, your loss.
not to mention, it was their intention all along. destroy the playerbase to drive them towards gw2 which will be horribly from what i've recollected. also destroying the playerbase you relieve the server load that they have to pay for that you dont supplement on a monthly basis. lastly, its obvious that anet had a failed business model. sell your game, hook them in, and then destroy the game so you dont have to pay for the rising costs of providing a service that honestly they didnt wanna pay for. by slowly wittling away the playerbase, it looks like they actually care, if your stupid enough to fall for that, then go play cod4 modern warfare where "no dedicated servers" destroyed their playerbase.

Ursan defiles the essence of RPG's by making all characters the same, by requiring all characters to be the same.
