Curiosity Haunts Me

Hey Guys,

I just had two questions since recently I've been noticing something. It might be interesting data for those of you who go deep into the research of Guild Wars. Anyways, here's the story which leads to the questions:

I was farming feathers as a Necromancer/Ritualist using variants of the Any/Ritualist feather farming build for Jaya Bluffs found here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4neVrcYH0Q

Now, in order to make it faster as a Necromancer I attempted many variants. The best two I came out with were using Destructive was Glaive, and one using Icy Veins.

Here's where my mysterious query begins:

I have noticed, that when I use Icy Veins, I get better drop results than when I use Destructive was Glaive. Icy Veins damages one unit, and after that unit dies it will spread on to the other units. Destructive was Glaive affects all the units when dropped. So, that brings back the question:

1. Is killing things individually, faster than killing at the same time (I have not tried the N/Rt spirit spammer build because I found it not as fast). I know there is still a lot of drop research going on, but I do hope this helps. However, this is only one source of information, only one place and possibly not enough trials.

2. Has anyone else noticed that in Underworld Dayway Speed Clears along with FoW Manlyway Speed Clears, that you get some golds, but sometime their mods aren't always perfect? In Jaya Bluffs, when I get a gold (which isn't as often as a Manlyway SC or an Underworld Dayway SC) it tends to have more perfect modifications than a Hard Mode place elsewhere? Or perhaps it was just luck of the draw. ^^

1. there is meant to be a sort of routine thats been mentioned on guru before - mass killing within a time frame gives less drops than killing same amount of foes individually - eg 10 foes in 1 sec may yield 2 drops but 10 foes in say 20 secs may yield say 5 drops but as always its something that cannot be proved or disproved due to random variables plus anet wont say.

2. Ive seen quite a few perfect mods in jaya bluffs but sadly they are always the damn type you cant salvage - and your right where you say luck of the draw.Ive probably had the same amount over time of perfect mods in both hm and nm.

hope this helps.

When i raptor farm (IF i ever raptor farm) I use silver armor, which kills them individually, which based on the theory = optimal drops

Keep in mind the kills are still quite close together, so you still trigger the 'less drops' code. It's not like you get 30+ drops every run. Just because the time between kills isn't 0 (via AoE) the time is still very small.

Raptors an vaetires are the most common these days - public choice but there are loads of different places .
Monks could 55 and farm undead in either gates of kryta mission or outside bergen into cursed lands ( this is the original event farm in my books as it predates eotn ).
Basically its a case of finding a place that can allow you fast easy kills - nm or hm doesnt matter unless your after better drops as well.

Anywhere where you get as many kills as quickly as possible. I don't know what professions you have, but perma isn't the only way to farm Raptors. HB/MoP (Warrior) can do it too, also in HM, and I hear it's faster.

Other than those spots though, perhaps the snowman cave?

There have been hundreds of topics on this, even tho people there will be people who continue to deny it, killing things 1 by 1 does increase your white/blue/materials etc.
It's certainly a lot slower though.

Okay, well I read through all of your posts.

Both farms were done at different times. I said one was Destructive was Glaive, the other was Icy Veins since I thought of them later.

As you said Fay Vert, I did try them all by myself. I'm also thinking that it may be the effect of Destructive was Glaive and Icy Veins. Maybe (I'm not sure) Icy Veins attacks each target differently, rather than at the same time. Much like Sundering Weapon + Body Blow / Chest Thumper. Destructive was Glaive on the other hand affects everything at the same time.
